I have never been to SC but we have to have an RVF lurker than can write a datasheet for this town.

I have a good surf instructor friend born and raised in Santa Barbara, now has moved to Santa Cruz.

He says the chicks are even more plentiful and easy than in Santa Barbara because UCSC is centered right in town and has more chicks (53% which is a decent skew) than guys. It would be like putting IV next to State St. if you are familiar with SB.

The chicks that go there also tend to be a bit less ritzy and more sex free-willed liberal than SB from my hearings.

I will visit there soon for a weekend, but it would be great to have a true datasheet.

The surfing there is some of the best on in the U.S. year round.

Yeah, lots ta love in Santa Cruz - I was in Vegas last Feb, and my super fly blonde lap dancer was from there.

Surf, cliffs, forests and trails, large university - plus a lovely little town, with 90 minute access to SF? And music fests and wine country? Whats to hate?

My idea is to rent a pad for a month in the summer. To enjoy and explore the area with that as a base.

While I could never live in Cali (ie, crazy politics, high taxes, and unsustainable public spending until the next century), I'd move there if the state broke up into six states, and the craziness was marginalized.

Lived there for 7 months once and loved it.

Unfortunately, I brought sand to the beach (a live-in, no less) so never got to play the local markets. But I sensed a lot of girls were down, and some were very shweet-looking indeed.

I was bartending and waiting tables both on the boardwalk and downtown, so opportunity was rife.

I must admit it was indeed painful.

I ended up moving back home with my girl to pursue moneymaking opportunities. Things went south and a lot of other unfortunate shit happened. One of my regrets in life is not having stayed there and built a new life, cut the girl loose, and fucked the hell out of Santa Cruz broads.

Then again, if I'd have done that, I may not have encountered the chain of events that led to me living all these years in Southeast Asia.

Life has a way of working itself out, I suppose.

I live in SV and every time I drive down to Santa Cruz, my head is turning from all the talent. Girls make a lot of eye contact and seem pretty chill in general.

It looks like I'll have to be the party pooper and say I was never blown away by the talent in Santa Cruz. I spent a lot of time there and it always seemed like a place you would move to for the lifestyle over the women. Smoking a jay and riding my bike along West Cliff Dr. was a great way to relax.

Cool. I will be there for a couple nights beginning of September.

Dope hotel with an (apparently) good bar.

I went to UCSC for my undergrad. Most of the attractive girls are greek-affiliated. You'll spot some non-greek cuties here and there. I never thought Santa Cruz as being "plentiful" of hotties. It's a fairly small town/bubble. Lots of hipster chicks and liberals. A lot of the locals are straight up weird, but you might get lucky and meet some chillers once in a while.

Every weekend, downtown Santa Cruz and the Boardwalk are packed full of tourists.

Every college kid always went downtown to the Red Room and Motiv on Thursday nights. Apparently, that's still the case.

With regards to the women, it's all about one's perspective. Live in Silicon Valley for a bit and you get used to the awful ratios of men to women. Everywhere else seems like a step up in terms of ratios and talent.

We have a budget surplus this year, the largest economy in the country, and register far more patents than any other state.

That's objective stuff--subjectively, a lot of the smartest people in Asia want to live here. It's way, way sustainable.

SB is more a party school.

UCSC is more of an academic school.

Santa Cruz is a beautiful city, one of my favorites in the world.

But, as far as who has hotter chicks, more chicks, and easier chicks to fuck.

I think SB is better in all 3 categories.

The easier chicks in Santa Cruz often do not go to UCSC but rather just live in town, are visiting tourists, recent transplants, and junior college students.

Don't get me wrong, Santa Cruz has some cute girls but not as many as SB, I don't think.

I guess I could be wrong?

Does anyone else have experience in both SB and SC?

My knowledge is just based off of a few weekends in each town.

SB on it's worst day will blow SC out of the water on it's best day. I've partied and spent time in both. SC girls are more hippy-ish and not as concerned with their appearance as SB girls.

But yea, the ratios in SB are ridiculous. This is on display at every bar you go to where the line to the men's bathroom is 3-10x as long as the line to the women's.

The cost of living here is definitely NOT sustainable. Rents going up $200-400/mo each year? I don't even know how the average Joes are surviving in the Bay Area. And now that China is cracking down on the expatriation of money, we're seeing the housing market cooling down.
