DEAR OFFENDED DAUGHTER: You are not wrong for wanting to be comfortable. But please remember that when you visit someone else's home, that person's wishes take precedence -- even if it used to be your childhood home.

While you say you are comfortable in your own skin, it would be interesting to know what your physician thinks about your obesity. I suspect that your mother would be prouder of you if you were less complacent and more willing to do something about your weight problem.

I like thick women myself but the way this woman describes herself (60-70 pounds overweight), plus her mom's reaction, I'm guessing this isn't muscle weight with some curves. Good on Abby for answering honestly and not being PC.

Every now and then I am curious how the person would respond to Dear Abby's advice.

I can only bet if this fat bitch could she would totally take a shit on Dear Abby. She wrote thinking Dear Abby may side with her. What is funny is how she rationalizes in her original posting. Shit like "I feel good when my curves are properly accentuated" - Accentuated? When your 70 lbs overweight nothing but photoshop will make you feel good. Clearly, she is in denial and her response may have been classic.

For shits and giggles went on to reddit and found a thread. And this img. The second to last and last paragraph are pretty funny to me. Dear Abby lays down the truth and readers want her to grow up. She thinks the fat lady should be encouraged to have confidence. That is honestly the last thing a society needs. Large fat confident (more like delusional) people. They will just keep doing stupid stuff like body acceptance.

....and cockblocking. Fat women and men are the ultimate cockblockers. It's almost as if fat people see themselves as the guardians of sex -- attempting to make sure no else gets any because they're not.

I know we've discussed how fat women cockblock guys in clubs. But am I the only one who has been cockblocked by these loud, porky, Jimmy Buffer-loving, sport-obsessed older guys in the workplace? Is this an archetype or is it just me?

Looking like they do, I'm surprised these guys have the confidence to even leave the house in the morning. But they not only have that, they also have the gall to interrupt conversations and attempt to belittle others. Plus, they strut around as if they own the place. Talk about delusional.

In an ideal world, you'd be able to say "Shut up, you fat fuck!" But that shit will get you fired. Sad to say.

Funny you say that.

At bars, betas will, not so ironically, just orbit around the conversation without getting the hint. On the flip side, I've had a few workplace instances where older, fat guys try to outtalk me. In both situations, the key is to remain calm, cool and collected. It's tempting to try to outtalk the office idiot, and to tell the beta to get lost. But eventually the fat guy will wear himself out, and simply saying "hey, you wanna get out of here?" to the woman at the bar will leave the beta by himself.

In regards to the reddit post, they always create that false dichotomy.

Saying fat is unhealthy/unattractive, they always respond with attacking being skinny/thin and/or that 'well, according to BMI, I should be only 50 pounds, therefore a witch!'.

Nobody is saying you have to be skinny. The point is to just be fit. I've been with a few girls that certainly weren't thin/skinny, but were definitely fit and had real curves.

And doesn't it seem like every fat person has a 'medical condition'? And sure BMI isn't the best indicator, but to act as if that proves being fat=healthy is nonsense. Ask any doctor and they'll tell you it's a bunch of bullshit.

It really irritates me because it is trying to force a beauty aesthetic on society that no one really wants through demonization. But it further promotes an outright lie that it is healthy. These people are no better than those who lie about a product being safe even if it contains a hazardous materials. Asbestos and lead are fine, otherwise you are an asbestos/lead shamer!

On that note, on my mission to lose ten pounds, I just went for a run, and literally ran by a couple of young, fat women in sun dresses, and I'm fairly certain they were walking into an ice cream shop.

I think it's one those human ways of dealing with our shortcomings and definitely almost borderline delusional when it comes to humility.

I was reading a blog post and the blogger said it so common that people would overrate themselves in whatever they did.

The blogger mentioned that he invested in a company that did a social experiment by posting a picture and rating themselves and then letting other rates them based on the photo. The blogger said that the difference was insane, and that while one would rate themselves hot almost no one else thought they were. The ones that rated themselves a perfect "10" were completely delusional and the least attractive.

It just goes to show you that people are not in touch with reality and I think its human nature and as Socrates would say "know thyself"
