Yeah - it was good. And not much of the scraping & bowing towards the feminine imperative seen in it.

The female heroines which were in the minority (which is normal in combat) had cybernetic implants and genetic improvements in order to be able to fight on par with men, so that was at least "realistic". And while the president was played by Meryl Streep, it was forgivable, since most action characters were men - as is the norm in real life.

Also the reason why people probably like the movie is because it shows a potential future where mankind might reach interstellar technology - actually giving us unparalleled freedom beyond the grasp of the current creeping total dictatorship.

I for one would be gone from this planet in a heartbeat. Would not return for decades. Dream-job of interstellar explorer - sadly a bit off currently. Even if they developed it, they would never ever give it to mankind in the current system, because then we would slip from their fucking beloved obsessive control.

All things considered - a highly recommendable movie - rare in our times, where they have to push through all the PC crap and thus rip apart whole story lines for the sake of more or less blatant propaganda. Also like the main hero Chris Pratt - how he lost weight and bulked up for his role transforming himself straight via Red Pill recommendations:

I never read Guardians of the Galaxy growing up, it wasn't even on my radar like X-Men, Spider-Man, etc.

Hats off to Marvel though, they did it again. A well rounded movie that's accessible for both fans and newcomers.

Was hoping for an appearance of Captain Nova once they revealed the Nova Corps but perhaps he's being saved for the future.

One thing that I read that I found pretty interesting, is that it may have worked out for the better in the long run that Marvel didn't produce the X-Men and Spider-Man movie franchises.

Reason being, they could have just focused on spin-offs of those areas, and they never would have taken a risk on lesser known characters/teams like Guardians of the Galaxy.

Hell, people forget with all the recent successes that the studios took a risk on films like Thor, which actually has a pretty complex story to tell, with less star power.

They did a good job with Rocket Raccoon as a "Ted" type animated character, I definitely laughed the hardest during the movie when he capped off Star Lord's inspirational speech with "I'm standing up. Here. There we are. A bunch of assholes standing up."

This movie was well done, mainly because it took B-list comic book characters and made them likeable. Rocket, Nebula, Drax, Ronan and gamora were barely noticeable in 90s comics. They had no starting star power like wolverine but they still did an excellent job.

I thought it was good, but it felt like there was a bit too much of a kids movie element to it. Obviously there was some suggestive content, violence, and epic CGI for adults, but it just seemed like they didn't quite pull off a grown up movie that kids can see.

It was funny though.

I also think that movie makers are getting really lazy with things like story continuity, plausibility, and consistency. There are always mix ups and stuff, but now it seems like they can't even be bothered to try.

It also bothered me a little that Vin Diesel was advertised as groot and he said nothing. Also, Bradley cooper advertised as rocket and either his voice was altered or he used a diferent voice to do it. Seems kind of stupid to have a big name actor not use his distinct voice.

Saw it twice, in 2D and 3D. Liked it both times, but the 3D did not do anything that special for me. The jailbreak scene and combat vs. the boss in the end were very good.

Zelcorpion, I hear you on 300:Rise of an Empire=feminist crapfest. That was 90 minutes of my life I'd like back.

Thanos is a complicated character, He actual fought for the side of good in some instances, but yea basically he is a megalomaniac/ ruler.

As expected, I enjoyed myself all over. The movie just has a kind of magic that manages to transform the individually banal moments/characters and a somewhat cliche story into something beautiful. It's thrilling, smart and touching at the same time. I loved it!

I don't know what fucking movie you all saw, but this was the worst fucking movie I've ever watched all the way through. I would've walked out if I didn't need a ride from my friend. I only laughed twice, once at the Pollock line and when the big dude doesn't get sarcasm and said "nothing goes over my head, my reflexes are too fast."

But seriously, the movie sucked more dick than Michael Sam. No character development, and I thought the cancer scene at the beginning was an ad for another movie for like 5 minutes. The plot was predictable. The laughs were cheap. "I am Groot." Fuck that shit, if you still haven't seen it, save your time and money, stay home.

Yeah, it was a bit of a stretch to believe, but don't write the movie off just for that. There are a couple of things I noted:

The female villain derived all of her power (indirectly) from having a pussy and manipulating men, just like a real woman.

Also, she got slain by a guy stabbing her right through, as if his knife was his dick, and she died on her knees before him.

Just some subtle things, as though the writers were forced to include the obligatory "grrrl power", but found other subtler ways to undermine that message.

As for guardians of the galaxy, I thought it was a lot of fun. Of course, the fact i was drinking bourbon, smoking weed and getting my dick sucked while I watched it at the drive-in might have influenced me.

It was ok, its been a long time since I've gone to the theater and seen something worth while. I think the last time we went to the movies was for Terminator 3, also an ok movie.
It wasn't fantastic but it was alright, could've done without the stereotypical 'ninja chicks who kick ass' and woman president. I'd kind of like to see more realistic fighting though, too much nonsense pervades movies. One kick to the face is enough to kill someone, it should end there in my opinion but I guess that doesn't make for good action movies... Sword/Knife fighting is a more realistic way of killing someone (even in the future) then hand to hand combat.

I thought the movie was great.

I don't know where you guys are getting the "red pill" stuff though. They served up the usual plate of tough girl for the American audience.

If I remember correctly, there was even the cliche scene of a guy implying that women couldn't be badass and her lashing out to prove a point (or am I confusing with another movie I watched recently?).

In any case, I do give strong female figures a pass when it comes to superhero-type movies, but just not seeing the whole red pill thing. The sexual references, I suppose, but don't know that there was a strong enough vein there to warrant mention of it as a "red pill" flick.
