This is my story of how this guy was scammed and how he then traced the scammers to Thailand... ...and then paid them a visit.

So in summary, a few scammers set up a website, then a guy fell for it and wired them a lot of money. Isn't that essentially the same thing as the Russian brides you get in your spam folder? They're lonely and will come to meet you if you just wire them $2000 for their airfares...

Anyone offering any kind of investment service should have a financial services license which should be verified with a government authority. That basic check would have prevented this scam.
