The media and political establishment never called out the Bush administration on all the lying they were doing to sell the Iraq-9/11 connection; rather the media/political elites aided the Bush team in their widespread propaganda campaign.

I don't think you see the bigger picture here. This stuff was planned long ago and outlined as part of foreign policy initiatives dating even before Reagan. There's no comic book like villains or shadow cabals there. The reason for Iraq is as I stated before, it's a process to secure the entire middle east region because it serves western geopolitical interests. The politicians believe that the alternative is letting Russia or China extend their economic and political interests in the region. Even if 9/11 never happened chances are good that another reason would have been used to get involved in the middle east.

Quote:I agree that much of Middle East policy consists of oil politics, keeping out Russia and China, and securing Israel............ but there's another factor to consider. The influence of the Saudi government. The Saudis have a very strong financial relationship with many figures in our ruling establishment, especially the Bush family. The relationship was so close that Prince Bandar of Saudi Arabia was Bush's political mentor who tutored him before his 2000 presidential run.

None of what you are saying is a secret.

The saudi royal family is a close ally to the U.S. because the U.S. keeps them in power and they serve geopolitical interests because S.A. is a primary supplier of oil to many countries. You could say the same thing about the rest of the powerful elites in the gulf arab world. Kuwait, Qatar, etc.. are all under U.S. policy control. You have extreme outliers like Bin Laden who was from a wealthy elite family who went against that established order but like I said..he's an outlier.

The majority population of saudis really dislike the U.S. because there is a strong fundamentalist core. The royals keep them in check by running a theocratic police state and the U.S. keeps the royals in power. It's a well known relationship.

So, Chinito, is agreeing with everything, but since he's saying it it's "well known" but if another poster talks about it, he's engaged in spreading "conspiracy theories".

No, this stuff is not, "well known". It's well known to "conspiracy theorists" and people "in the know" but, its not taught in schools, and it's not well known amongst the people, or even the average voter.

Explaining everything away under the umbrella of being a shadow conspiracy is lazy analysis.

The fundamental issues he listed are correct but the reasons why (it's all a conspiracy!) are ill conceived.

Mixing conspiracy theories in with facts is doing a disservice in understanding the bigger picture of why foreign policy is the way it is or how government works. That's what the OP does. A lot of modern day conspiracies take existing facts and bend it towards wing nut territory..ie. 9/11 Trutherism or Sandy hook stuff.

Unless of course you actually believe in this type of stuff..then I guess we can just agree to disagree.

I disagree. President HW Bush had a chance to topple Saddam Hussein in 1991, especially after the widespread Shiite and Kurdish uprisings. He chose not to. Regime change in Iraq, as opposed to containment, was not the strategy. Even under Clinton, there was no attempt to do anything but contain Saddam Hussein.

By the way, Saddam Hussein was tricked into invading Kuwait. Back in 1990, 8 days before his invasion of Kuwait, the United States told Saddam Hussein that they had no problem with him invading Kuwait. He did so. Then the rest is history.

Who serves who? You're ignoring the amount of money the Saudis spread around in Washington DC. The Saudis have crafted very generous business relationships with many politicians, especially the Bush family. Essentially the Saudis pay off our politicians with their oil loot, which encourages pro-Saudi policies in Washington DC. Which is how Saudi Arabia evaded responsibility for 9/11, despite 15/19 hijackers (and Bin Laden!) being Saudi and having received extensive Saudi funding. By the way, the Bin Laden family is one of the leading business families in Saudi Arabia, so the govt there could've put pressure on the family to reign in Osama.

Bin Laden is less an outlier than a member of the power structure.

Quote:The majority population of saudis really dislike the U.S. because there is a strong fundamentalist core. The royals keep them in check by running a theocratic police state and the U.S. keeps the royals in power. It's a well known relationship.

The Saudis have a lot of hotheaded radicals, influenced both by Islamic extremism and the sexual frustration caused by widespread polygamy, who could be a threat to the regime. So the Saudis have a policy of fomenting foreign wars and encouraging these radicals to go fight in these wars, which removes a threat from their kingdom. Also, when these radicals go overseas, the Saudi government gives them weapons and funding, which the radicals use to buy local support and spread their Wahabbi ideology. By exercising ideological influence through Wahabbi evangelism, the Saudis gain leverage over foreign territories.

This strategy has been played out many times before, including in Iraq, Syria, and Chechyna. Did you know Saudi Arabia funded ISIS? Did you know Saudi Arabia funded Al Qaeda? Funding and exporting terrorism is the Saudi strategy.

But where's the connection between these different departments. Are they having clandestine meetings that are not notarized, do they shape policy as part of the National Security Council or are they all just acting on their own?

I agree with your general premise about the deep state, but that story is utter bullshit and a propaganda canard. The cable was leaked in Wikileaks, and what the Ambassador told Saddam is that the USA had no position on the border dispute between Iraq and Kuwait in their "neutral zone" and those "inter-Arab affairs." Not a green light to invade all of Kuwait.

The Saddam tapes found after the last war also show that story is false.

Quote:In the almost quarter-century since the 1990-1991 Gulf War, much of what has been written about the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait has posited that Ambassador Glaspie’s meeting with Saddam amounted to a "green light" for the attack, or at least past U.S. support for his regime led the Iraqi ruler to believe he could get away with it. However, the captured Iraqi records present a different picture. The Iraqi government did produce a copy of the Saddam-Glaspie meeting to the media for propaganda purposes after the invasion, but such factors seem to have not been discussed behind closed doors. Rather than Glaspie’s comments, Saddam explained on August 7, 1990, "But it was God who showed us the path. Our brain was worthless; it was God who guided us. We were heading in that direction and suddenly he turned us." He was also expecting a military response from the United States, albeit one Iraq could withstand. "All they can do is bring their airplanes and start bombing: boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom. So what? Nothing will happen, we will give them hell. Give me one instance when an airplane has settled any situation. We are not like Panama, people to be scared by airplanes." Saddam and his regime planned for the international reaction to their actions, but they never anticipated Saudi Arabia hosting American forces and an international coalition for the purpose of expelling Iraq from Kuwait through a ground war. The common denominator between US foreign policy at this time, along with much of what has been written about Iraqi decision making, is that both have projected assumptions regarding Iraqi perceptions that were at odds with what we now know about the actual view from Baghdad.

RE: The American "Deep State"
This is really a great article - I can't believe some people dismissed this as "horseshit" and a "conspiracy theory". The article makes it clear this is no secret and it's all happening out in the open. Most people aren't aware because they don't care - they're keeping themselves busy with shallow, untranscendental bullshit and won't dig deep to find out the seedy shit that's going down in front of them.

RE: The American "Deep State"
This article is amazing. I found the bit about having enough money and freedom to invade Libya in the midst of a government shutdown particularly striking. The violations and hypocrisies that it details are not that much different from any list of feminism's contradictions - exposing it to be not an autonomous movement for good, but a carefully orchestrated and widespread campaign of destruction.

The rebuttals should not be so flippant. Do the top dogs of the military-industrial or feminist or whatever complexes hold secret meetings, or do they do it in public and distract the people with reality TV? Who cares?

The point is that they cause enormous suffering, have zero common interests with you, and have deeply entrenched mechanisms of staying in power. Doesn't that concern you?

Aside from the CFR, this is more of a Globalist list, but you get the picture. These guys are getting together on the regular in shady little organizations, and deciding how things are going down independent of democratic institutions. When they cracked down on CIA misconduct, they formed the innocently named "Safari Club" that was independent of the gov't but still put the power players in control of all kinds of clandestine resources. It's a shell game that's extremely difficult for regular civilians to monitor effectively, but the powers that be get to continue playing their games.

Here is an article that probably probably addresses your question a little more directly -

"The 7th Floor Group is a group of top US State Department officials who met regularly on the 7th floor of the Harry S. Truman Building in Washington, DC, referred to by the FBI as a "shadow government" inside the State Department.[1] The group appears to have formed around Hillary Clinton, although no direct evidence has yet emerged to tie her to the group. Most if not all remaining members had their employment terminated on 17 February 2017"

https://wikispooks.com/wiki/7th_floor_group

Wikispooks is a pretty good attempt at a wiki project on the Deep State. Like anything else created by man, they've got some crackpots and they're off base on some things, but good critical thinking skills will help you navigate what's useful and what isn't. One of it's more useful features is automatically linking to Spartacus Educational articles (which was a much older attempt to do the same thing, which has a lot of good material on older Deep State stuff).

Presidents who came out of nowhere like Macron, who participated in 2014, as just a deputy chief of staff for Hollande, have made a habit of starting out as Bilderbergers. IIRC Clinton and Obama were also Bilderbergers just before they were tapped for the presidency.

Gay cakes and trans bathrooms: the most important human rights issues of our times, surely.

RE: The American "Deep State"
Of course, Bilderberg Group meetings are some kind of grooming for the future heads of state.
