After checking posts about Jakarta, I decided to ask for advice...Will be visting Jakarta for the first time this coming Septermber, so Is there a dress code for going to clubs? Bars..etc? Since the weather is tropic, hot and humid...what do I wear? How are the Jakardians dress? A shirt and pants will do?

It's not Bali so don't go out in shorts and sandals. Definitely untorn jeans and shoes. I think sneakers are fine but darker would be safer to get past the door. Dress shoes would be best. A long sleeve dress shirt helps. People dress up a bit at the nicer clubs. Bring your passport.

Dragonfly and Blowfish require a shirt, everywhere else t-shirt and jeans is fine.

dont worry about bringing a passport.
also x2 (very rarely) and empirica can get finnicky about collared shirts sometimes too

So what would be a good way to dress well and stand out without being uncomfortable or try hard in these SEA hot climates?

A nice untorn pair of jeans, evening shoes and a collared long sleeve dress shirt. Lol ! Anyone with experience here???? I personally like to stand out. After I go a couple of times I will try a few nice outfits and see their response. Problem is I get easily sweaty. Forget about dancing! Do they dance in these clubs? Thats another question !???

yes there is a good sized dancefloor in all clubs in Jkt. Jeans, nice shoes and shirt is all you need, i wore fitted t-shirts to X2 and kemang. Everywhere has aircon, only place you sweat is waiting for a taxi.

I am booking this hotel. 0.6 km from the x2 lol I will try to walk slowly! Lol!!!!!

It is hot during the day in Jakarta but you will go out closer to midnight. You will be fine in a suit. Clubs are airconditioned.

You don't need your passport for getting into clubs, but I would recommend carrying your passport at all times. I remember getting stopped by the police on the back of an Ojek for not wearing a helmet. The first thing the guy asked for was the OJEKs ID card and my passport. In the end we got a way very cheaply. The ojek driver gave him 40,000 rupiah (I can't remember exactly). I'm sure Indonesian law requires all foreigners to carry their passports at all times. You're asking for trouble and a large bribe if you don't have it.

Do not wear flip-flops. I'm sure you wouldn't but I saw some drunk guy with a broken toe wearing them in the elevator on the way out of X2 and they wouldn't let him in.

never needed it at any time in 2 years (aside from hotels, airport etc)

and to the OP, no one really dances in places like x2/df etc. well, nothing too exuberant anyway
