How do you deal with this question?

It's like every single aunt and family member expect you to be a committed slave to one pussy? Since women are guardians of sex and men are guardians of commitment, wouldn't the question being the equivalent of "why don't you have sex" coming from uncles to a girl?

I recently got fed up with it and answered "why limit myself to one?" and the room became overpopulated with faces of fake indignation. The aunts don't talk much to me since then and they tell my mother that "I'll never give her grandkids with a nice woman".

This is a simple one for me and I'm sure Heartiste has touched upon it at least once:

"I'm simply waiting for the right one to come along"

Who gives a shit if you're sincere? You're being true to yourself and recognizing the bullshit that can originate from a LTR and keeping yourself in check while making sure your options stay open.

I just tell them I'm waiting until I'm about 40 to settle down because I want to travel and get my shit together financially. And because I'm just not ready.

If that's a good enough answer for delusional future spinsters pursuing careers, then it's a good enough one for me.

You can always use the sappy excuse that you "haven't met the right one yet." Even if you're not looking, it's still officially honest.

There's always the chance the next 7 years will go by and I still won't want to get married; I'll burn that bridge when I get there. I imagine even if I don't "settle down," I'll have at least knocked some girl up by then, and I think if you're at least a dad, then people leave you alone.

In the end, though, you don't have to answer to anyone. The older you get, the more that will be so.

A few years ago on a wedding, aunts and some neigbours gave me a hard time about not being married. At last,one old neighbour woman came to me,put her hand on my shoulder and said for the 100th time
"Soon, Chaos! Soon it will be your time!" with an ugly smirk on her face.

A couple of months later we met on a funeral and then I went to her and put my hand on her shoulder and said
"Soon,Alina, soon it will be your time!"

I've even had older women tell me never to get married. Women my age tell me to keep doing what I'm doing, avoiding the kid trap and traveling the world, and that I have plenty of time. Some admit they are miserable (that always makes me cringe to hear a mother say that).

Not everyone is against us.

I will say that people probably understand a lot more if you're out there seeing the world than if you're still in the states - not that there's anything wrong with either choice. I still get a lot of questions from locals in Asia though, who cannot comprehend my life choice at all.

^ My therapist actually says to me "What the hell do you want to get married for?" She's a female +20-year friend of my family and has her shit together. Seriously, though... with everything men have to face in the modern age why the hell would I want to get married?
