The one bitch on the left with the huge tits is Wendy Fiore, not sure who the other is. I actually find it weird to take pictures of myself, so I hardly take pictures. In some ways its nice to document how you look throughout your life, but this is taking it to extreme territories. I guess it will now be normal to have 10,000 facebook photos.

Am I the only person waiting for most people to shame others who still do this as being played out? Used to be people would call things that jumped the shark, played out by now. This selfie trend has some serious legs!

There's not always something to set your phone on. Plus how many times do you have a pic of someone running back to the proper spot. This is such an asian thing. I agree I don't think it'll catch on much beyond that. The shaming of it seems to come from smug hipster types from the TUMBLR blogs. It has its uses, but not for a smartphone, which usually have terrible front facing cameras. My facebook wall was inundated with tons of TERRIBLE selfies in front of Christ the Redeemer. For me, I don't trust other people to have my phone or camera. They run away with it, I'm screwed. This selfie stick is too cumbersome though. If it were a high quailty picture, like a gopro camera, I'd be more inclined to use it (in a deserted area where no one could see me like in Nature).

I take shitloads of photos though, probably at least 100-200 per month of everything that I do (I don't take selfies though), so I kind of "get it".

I don't get how a better selfie (resulting from a picture taken more far away from the subject) is worth having a FUCKING STICK IN EVERY SINGLE PICTURE. And there's no angle that can avoid it with this device. If anything, this stick should have had a concave shape.

I was in the gym this morning and a chick walked in, spent 5 minutes taking selfies in the mirror and then proceeded to walk the fuck back out the door again.

She didn't even attempt some semblance of a workout, didn't bother to even hop on an exercise bike or treadmill.

I know chicks rarely take a workout seriously but that was brazen shit on a whole other level I'd never seen.

I gave serious, serious thought of trying to create and sell a "selfie" tripod stand that was able to fold up into a reasonable size (i.e. able to fit in a purse), and try to bundle it with an iPhone app with a timer for the camera. Someone had beat me to it.

This just takes it to a whole new level, though.

It used to be pictures were a social occasion. You took a picture because you wanted to remember a great time you had with your friends - a wedding, a family reunion, a great party, a stunning vacation - now pictures are something you use to get friends. You project an interesting life through social media in order to get others to pay attention to you and fill the void.
