I bought an Ipod a few months ago from Walmart and I bought some JVC headphones while travelling last month. This week they both broke. The Ipod just died out of nowhere and the headphone connection has broken internally so it keeps cutting out. Neither item seen excessive wear,water damage etc.

Can I get these switched/fixed without a receipt?

I don't have any of the original packaging either. Any way of fixing this or should I have kept the boxes and paperwork.

On a side note it pisses me off how flimsy modern products are. When I was younger my Walkman could survive nuclear war.

Probably not. Sometimes if you can find it on the credit card statement and find the exact time & date it was purchased the same store will be able to look up the receipt.

And good luck getting Apple to honor any warranty without a receipt! LOL! They rarely even honor their warranty WITH a damn receipt.

I have heard some pretty crazy walmart returns stories. They won't give you cash but store credit. You can even return produce if you don't like it...take a bite out of your ipod and tell them you didn't like how it tasted.

The Ipod sounds like it might be fixable. Could be as simple as replacing the battery in it. I've never owned one so I don't know how difficult or possible they are to work on. Maybe look for some threads on a tech forum to see if its fixable.

You can't, but I bet your girlfriend could.

A shrill ass complaining GF who's used to getting her way, entitled when it comes to customer service - can often get away with illogical things that a logical man could not.

I got some truck charger from a gas station cause I always listen to podcasts while driving. It died a day later. I'm guessing the new cheap charger burnt it out somehow.

You could always buy a new one exactly the same and then return the old one with the new one's receipt and packaging.

I doubt this will work because the number on the product (iPod) will not match the number on the box.

^^^ all depends on how thorough the particular service guy is that day.

sometimes you get nonchalant people and sometimes you get the one guy who's pissed at life and has it out for every customer in the store....hahahahahaha

WIA is correct though... I ALWAYS ALWAYS have my chick take things back for me. damn near hassle free every time
