I used to work as a DOD contractor and traveled to Germany a few times a year for a few weeks at a time and established a no strings relationship with a girl in Frankfurt. I'm no longer contracting and back in the US for the time being. I stopped by her place for a weekend this spring while on vacation and she's coming over here for a week in September.

I try to keep contact to a relative minimum and she's always itching for attention via skype and whatsapp.

I ask the forum, what is a good level of contact to maintain? She'll text me incessantly all day if I let her and if I let too much time pass (few weeks) I receive butthurt-tone texts.

Find a medium between all day and few weeks. Shoot for say once a week convo ?

Twice a week usually worked for me.
Keep the convo going the whole day and pick it up later on the next designated day you talk to her.

It's best to keep long distance relationship conversations at a minimum.

It's best to not let her being "butt-hurt" affect you; otherwise you play into her frame and lose your own.

Another added benefit of this would be that you'll enjoy yourself with her given the lower expectations and higher mystery about you built up by the spaces of silence.
