Paged through Maxim's Hot 100 issue at the grocery store yesterday, noticed that there aren't more than 3 or 4 visibly tattooed girls out of 100. And several of those were on questionable picks like Miley Cyrus and Rhianna.

Many girls seem to think tattoos are cool and edgy and awesome, and the media reinforces this to a degree. But a magazine like Maxim knows what guys really want, and it isn't a girl tatted up like a 50-year-old ex-biker bitch. Girls that care about their appeal should pay attention.

I never paid attention to Maxim's list in the past to know whether this is a change or not, but I can only hope the pendulum is swinging.

I think those that try to make a living know that damaging their only asset isn't too smart. That or a lot of photoshop.

I've noticed a trend of Vegas bottle waitresses getting their tats removed (laser).

Good.

Now they get it.

When I see a chick with tats now I almost have a moment where I want to puke. Excessive tats scream "WALKING HEP C/weird disease!"

I have an investment idea for tattoo's. Anyone who creates technology which can safely remove tattoo's for a good price to the customer is bound to be good for stock options.

Isn't removal painful and expensive right now?

Speaking as a guy whose amount of tatts attracted heavily-tatted sluts, you're right on the money. They're the lowest value girls with the high amount of 'issues'.

Tattoos are simply a sign of female solipism - most like it in men, so they think somehow that most men will love them too!

Tattoos do create a more masculine feel - in basically all cultures they had body war paints and even tattoos especially for warriors. How being more masculine helps female attractiveness beats me - the special snowflakes are just nuts.

Plus you actually have to take great care and research well what kind of material is used - there are better ones, but most of the colored paints contain heavy metals which are toxic to the body.

The Maxim 100 list is bullshit anyway, you could find a lot of hotter chicks that a lot of girls on that list walking down the street in a big city. Always a very suspect list.

To my eyes, a woman's greatest fear is being perceived by others as 'ordinary', far more so than 'ugly' or 'masculine'. It's why they're such bad writers: their main characters can never just be a normal person, but have to be over-the-top Unique and Special.

Hair dye / nose piercing / tatts = see how individual I am! Which is why these are reliable signifiers of low self esteem and its related issues, including being a sloot.

Yep. And it's bullshit for another reason as well: a lot of the ads in there are from movie studios and they call the shots when it comes to coverage.

Having freelanced for various mags over the last ten years, I can tell you it's all basically glorified PR. Almost everything is done in service of advertisers. When you write, there's an "understanding" of how and what you're going to write, and if you chime in with something that ruffles feathers, you're paid a kill fee -- they pay you so they don't have to run it. This happened to me a few times.
