Something I've really noticed in Western European mainstream (and even non-mainstream) media channels, is the constant sanitisation of news.
For instance, there were mass brawls in Mannheim in Germany last weekend.
The media were extremely careful not to mention anything about race or nationality of those involved.
Eventually, after much probing, I found out, it was between rival "Auslaender" groups, but as to their ethnicity, that information was absent, no matter where I looked.
Since then, I've seen several tweets from Germany friends I know, about how there is a backlash against foreigners in this part of Germany in recent days and how this is unfair, and the nationality/race of those involved is 'irrelevant', etc

A number of pertinent points came into my head afterwards:
1) The media perhaps did more damage than good, by deliberately refusing to mention the origins of the brawlers, as it allowed people to speculate about "bloody foreigners causing trouble again".
2) The immediate response by German associates of mine, that the origins of the brawlers was 'irrelevant', struck me as illogical, but is very typical of the German people in general, who are so incredibly careful where race or nationality is concerned. But adopting such a 'head in the sand' attitude, does nobody any good, and does not help in trying to tackle the root of such issues and try to take measures to prevent them reoccurring.

Have you seen similar such instances yourselves across Western media sources?

Anything involving non-whites is glossed over but if it is a white on ethnic incident the news is quick to point out the white perp and fall over themselves doing it.

This is in the UK, the USA I wont even touch on this issue.

The same can be said for female pedophiles and rapists. Men are immediately identified but if it involves a woman as the aggressor then they will slowly release it to help the public digest the reality.

Yes in Britain whenever there is a stabbing, rape, murder, the ethnicity of the prep gets tagged as being a "youth" or "male". Even if they are appealing for witnesses, they seem to avoid the ethnicity in a lot of cases.

This is conjecture, but one reason might be that European doesn’t really have the free-speech protections that the United States (for now) has. Individuals and media entities that write or say something that could be constructed as disparaging to a minority group face civil and criminal penalties.

I think the likes of Germany and Sweden are even more paranoid about naming anyone's ethnicity in such cases, than the UK is.
However almost anyone I know, from those countries, tend to associate any kind of questioning or holding to account of a non-native, non-white person as a racist slur.
The media and education system in the West really has done a fine job of brainwashing (most) people.
It's quite bizarre and frustrating in a sense, cos almost of these people I'm referring to, I would consider to be intelligent and quite educated, but when it comes to matters of nationality or race, all intellect goes out the window, to be replaced by a very narrow minded b/w perspective.

I think that may already be the case. It comes from that "critical theory" nonsense, that comes from the same cloth as feminism. After the Lee Rigby killing, it seemed to me that media and government was more bothered by the EDL's comments after the killing, than the actual beheading itself.

While it may annoy us in the short end it is positive in the long end in the way that the old media is killing itself this way. The papers are becoming more and more bland and vapid. Their falling circulation will have them mostly depleted in another decade or so.

I remember a time when journalist weren't afraid of taking a contrarian view something that today is extremely rare.

Well that got hid under the carpet quickly. I remember the "free speech" question time programme on BBC, somehow blamed the BNP and white middle class men for the grooming gangs coming from Bradford, fuck knows how they made that one work.

I remember a year or two back in the Midwest, all the "flash mobs" were going down. The news never said who initiated the attacks or who the victims were, but you figures it out through the social media leak. Of course it was all forgotten about by all the latest celebrity "news".
