It's a good idea to start with the posts in the forum and start not only reading but also posting your experiences and questions.

You will get a lot of help that way and even find those that can skype or call with you.

Bottom line : you should build some credibility first.

Thanks, that makes sense. Should I assume it also applies to hangouts of confident men that are not designated for game discussion?

My main goal is not to have questions answered but to have speech patterns, mannerisms, etc. rub off on me. I credit some of my previous success with women to the influence of confident friends.

I can also seek friends in my city.

Yes. Jump into the Meetup section and there are instructions there as to meeting others in your city. That being said, it's always good to have a solid reputation so you appear legit to the more experienced players, which I believe is what you seek.

Pay close attention to that section for meet ups in your city posted by others as well where many players tend to congregate to meet newbies to the forum.

Also, I think you need to do more searches and browsing before asking these questions.
