New Orleans is unlike anywhere else in America. It's honestly one of the few remaining hidden gems within North America where hot, petite women with French heritage are seriously open to being approached .

I was born in New Orleans, left the city, then recently returned there for about a week. I'm in my mid-twenties FYI. Here's almost everything I've learned during my time in the sweaty, sexy and swampy city of NOLA:

The culture is sleazy. Girls expect to be hit on throughout any time of the day and they usually enjoy it. That doesn't necessarily mean they're open to being fucked right then and there; but their flirtatious culture is a great thing. Women are really open-minded here, more so than anywhere else that I've been in the USA (10+ states). What I guess I'm saying is that you HAVE to wear a party hat if you're going to mess around in NOLA, some of these girls can be dirty.

You can drink alcohol almost anywhere. This is a great thing if you're visiting/vacationing in NOLA. Being able to drink alcohol outdoors adds to the down-to-earth lifestyle of this place. You can take a girl out for a date in city park or walk around the French Quarter with a daiquiri.

Distractions are everywhere. Again, this is a great thing if you're just visiting. If you live here, good luck being productive. People are very slow paced and it takes a while to get things done. The city is wildly corrupt, as are the police. It's socially acceptable to start drinking in the morning if you like. The bars never really close.

It's a place where people go to live a carefree and fun lifestyle, not achieve big dreams as if you're in LA or NYC. The city is called The Big Easy, after all...

Crime is kind of a concern. New Orleans used to be the murder capital of the USA, but it dropped to the second ranking this year, behind Chicago. What's weird about the city is that there are consistently nice neighborhoods with ghettos and projects immediately next door - throughout the entire city. It's like you can walk through a rich area with $500K+ properties and then stumble into the hood.

However going out with groups of friends usually solves any robbing/crime problems. But if you live in the city, your house or car will likely eventually get robbed. It happens here.

The only other US city that I can even compare New Orleans to is Las Vegas, only because of the similar 24/7 hour bar scenes. Except New Orleans actually has a rich and distinct cultural heritage, so they're totally unalike.

Anyway, this is my first post on the forum so I thought I'd attempt to make a decent contribution for you all. As for me, I fucking love New Orleans, but I can't live there. Too many distractions for my ambitions.

Everyone who visits says that they love New Orleans; but most refuse to live there because the place is so fucked up. Alcoholism is accepted and encouraged there, and so is partying as hard as possible. It's great if you want to have the time of your life for a few weeks. But your body and mind can only handle so much of the wildest city in America.

Edit: I stayed in a neighborhood within the "Lakeview" area of New Orleans, it's one of the safest areas near downtown. A dumped body was found down the street while I was there haha.
