RE: Let's get to the root of One-itis
I just experienced this a day ago (look at my thread where I ditched the girl and then tried to re-connect with her). I was thinking about her and reconnecting the whole time. She seemed special (she is to some degree) and my mind was like there could be no clone for this thing.

Then I just lined up another date that seems very promising. And now I'm not giving a shit really.

Oneitis happens when you don't have options. So you are trying to make things work with what seems to you the only option.

An interesting thing about the One is that by definition there can be only One.

At the time we feel the person we are with is the One, but years later after the relationship is over and we have a new love then they are now the One.

If were asked about the old love, we will dismiss them and say something like "Well that was just puppy love, lust, etc.", this person I'm with now is really the One. Rolleyes

And if we don't have a new love interest than we tend to romanticize the past, completely forgetting about all the negatives that existed with that old flame and the relationship.

Either way, there seems to be some desire for the One always running in our mind. Whether it's a girl from the past, the present, or the future.

I wonder if there's something evolutionary at play here.

We meet em, fuck em and become connected for just enough time to get her pregnant and protect her during pregnancy whilst she's vulnerable.

Once our genes are propagated we move onto the next one.

Just a thought.

RE: Let's get to the root of One-itis
As stated many times above, the true root of one-itis is lack of options. After getting dumped by my 7 year one-itis 6 months ago I have been learning to game, and starting to have some results.

I recently experienced my first one-itis since getting out of the LTR. This girl was decent, but has several red flags, and certainly is not above me on the SMV latter. However, she is the only girl I have been regularly banging and it triggered one-itis after 4 bangs. I knew what was happening, but it still got me!

I picked myself up by the bootstrings and went out and talked to a bunch of new girls, and pipelined some online lizards. Just the act of doing that has helped 100%. This is the entire basis of plate theory. It can be such a PITA to pursue multiple women, but it is ESSENTIAL of you want to make rational choices about the women you might commit to.

One-itis is one of the worst feelings related to dealing with women. I prefer rejection over one-itis really. It means you have lost all of your power, and that is a terrible place to be as a self respecting man.

I absolutely agree that there is something evolutionary here. Even when I KNOW that a chick is not LTR material I feel this urge to get her to commit after banging a few times. My logical brain literally fights with my primitive side. Luckily logic can win, but its a tough and sometimes painful battle.
