Too bad this doesn't include any numerical data. It would show how pitifully few native Americans (lower case) learn any other language.

Most of these groups are immigrants or special circumstances: French/Cajun in New Orleans, Amish and Pennsylvania Deutsch in the Tri-State area, etc, etc...

Its funny how many Brits and Europeans I meet who seem to think most Americans actually know Spanish..lol this cracks me up. I dont know what the media over there tells u but this is false. We Americans (excluding recent immigrants and their children) are just as monolingual as Brits or Aussies. I can see how they can get this impression if they only visit Miami though on vacation.

in the Fall River area (right next to R.I.), Massachusetts has a large Portuguese community and also a lot of immigrants from Cape Verde.

Now that Russsian would persist today in Oregon is interesting, as that's something going way back to the early 1800's. (i.e. Fort Ross, CA.)

IMO your most likely to get a Arab flag getting a Americanized Arab girl from Michigan. I almost swooped a Toronto Arab and her Michigan cousin while I was in Detroit last. She was so bougie and rich though I couldn't even handle/navigate it. I thought she was trolling me for a bit, but she was down and I got that make out in, but logistics killed it when I tried to swoop her back to my hotel. She was down though, she was Jordanian.

This is interesting, I knew about the large Arab population in MI but I'm surprised to see that Russian is still strong in the North West. I also agree about the previous comments on Arab women, we have a good number of them in Northeast Ohio and many are surprisingly attractive, particularly those of Lebanese or Syrian ancestry.

There are apps to download to learn the Dakota language.

About half of the U.S.'s states' names are taken from the Native American tribes who lived there or for Native American names for the land, rivers, or something like that.

How come ebonics didn't take the top spot anywhere? Don't they know that it's a language now.

The DEA was looking for some fluent speakers to help translate a few years ago. I considered applying. A few years of working in DC/Baltimore education has really helped my fluency.

Hell even the Economist is on board. I think this map is racist.
