I remember reading a study that had a pretty significant negative correlation between a girl's preference in musculature in a male and her intelligence/social status.

I'm have a thinner athletic build, and haven't hit the gym in any serious sustained effort in my life. Almost all of the girls who message me out of the blue or "like" my photos have legit college majors, are grad/med/law school, or are professionals. Its a trend and obv I've had the opposite types of girls do the same, but in lower numbers. Luckily most girls in my zip code are bangable regardless and I'm picky.

I just thought it was interesting that my personal experience seems to conform with the study. I wish I had the link.

I'd conjure a guess that social status/intelligence slightly negatively correlates with looks, so its not necessarily a good thing, just an observation.

Anybody have similar experiences? Id be fun to hear from someone who put on a lot of muscle in a relatively short time.

The reason for this has to do with the psychology: the more ghetto girls are going to be going for strongman, old school, "douchey" type guys that would be able to protect them physically.

The richer girls don't have to worry about that kind of thing as much and will also be selecting for high value men, or guys the give off signals that they come from some kind if elite place (be it money or hipness etc).

If you've ever read the book "Class," great read by the way, the author talks about how more affluent people are typically shooting for the androgynous look. You can see it in some high end models. Another good example would be when chicks used to wear shoulder pads. Broad shoulders are typically masculine.

The more money someone has the less they have to worry about physical strengthen or, for women, sex appeal. I've never met someone who was born into serious money that didn't rock an androgynous look.

Here are some models for Viktor & Rolf, it's like Gucci for people who know that Gucci isn't really for rich people.



Compare them to a "working man's" clothing company like Hanes or Victoria's Secret. Models for those two are typically depicted as being as masculine and as feminine as possible. You'd never see the types of models from the shoots above on either company's advertisements.

You can make evolutionary arguments that good looks should be *positively* correlated with social status. If intelligent high-status males preferentially mate with good looking females, and if both looks and intelligence/status have genetic components (and they do) then in theory, genes for high IQ and for good looks should come to be associated with each other.

Now I should add that at a *personal* level, this doesn't match my preferences. I tend to be more attracted to working class / lower social status girls, and I tend to go for the very obvious indicators of 'femininity' (nail polish, makeup, heavy perfume etc. all push my buttons). I'm also not attracted to the ethnic groups that dominate elite circles in America (Indians, East Asians and Jews) so that also plays into why elite girls generally don't do it for me.

This topic has been hashed out in detail recently.

Well-off/smart/hipster girls are my niche. Since I've been lifting all different kinds of girls have been checking me out and commenting on my body more. Those kinds of girls say they have a weaker preference for muscles than trashier girls, it'll be interesting to see how much what they say lines up with up what they get tingles for as I get bigger. Half the time a female friend (most of whom are well-off/smart/hipster) compliments my gains she'll warn me not to get "too big", and when I ask them what their idea of "too big" means they'll refer to body builders, not realizing just how difficult it is to get that freakishly huge and how much drug use is involved.

I've got a ways to go before I reach this point, but my long term plan is to continue getting bigger until I reach a point where it's either decreasing the reception I get from girls or more importantly if the returns I get on being that big just aren't worth the cost to my lifestyle.

This is what all RVF members should be doing.

Physical attraction has nothing to do with it though in my personal experience. It is all about cultural conditioning. Once you otherwise tick the social attraction switches: Intelligence, social competence, not being a cultural nitwit, then all else being equal all girls regardless of education and background still prefer the larger, more muscular man.

You could say, that being a skinny guy, but a skinny with style, confidence and charisma, sends signals, that here is a guy of high status because he doesn't have to worry about being physically strong to have power. In other words, signaling wealth. Just like how a fat guy will get very different reception depending on if he shows up in a t-shirt or in a $2000 custom tailored suit. The belly might actually be attractive because it is associated with the rich, powerful CEO or politician type.

As I've hunted college chicks a lot in the past, and being a rather big and stern looking guy, imo you do need to make sure to 'skinny hipster' your look down a bit, but not too much.
