I'm not exactly sure why her business failed. It doesn't look like it necessarily had anything to do with her leaving for Colorado - maybe it was just a poorly run business and that's that?

I'm guessing that before she left, she let on that she was an emotional wreck, and that information got to her clients?

I could only read about half, maybe ADD or extreme disgust. First off, how the hell does this qualify to be called a "Techstar", or even get chosen by the sappy white knighting judges there. Sign of the times, or how easy it is to get money. Cash in boys! The world really needs another marketing consultancy/SEO/PR agency.. impressive, groundbreaking, earth shattering.

As an angel investor this would reek of potential legal ramifications, i.e., lawsuit. From what I can tell it looks like she had a mental breakdown , didnt work very hard, and destroyed the business. If I put in money I would explore any sort of legal ramification according to the investment contract.

Thats interesting, because she used to be recommended by Ramit Sethi, guy behind I will teach you to be rich. Ive read through her blog a year or two ago, and I thought the vast majority of her advice was helpful. I guess I need to be more careful in the future.

Translations:

Emotionally raw with my friends = I told them a sob story about why I lost their money. They wanted to punch me in the face.

I work well with my team = I worked well with my team while they were being paid. Now, unless I embezzled my investors' money and my team was in on it, they hate me for not paying them and want to punch me in the face.

'I am no longer concerned.' So why, several sentences later, do you say 'I am sorry I lost your money.' The reality is that you couldn't give a fuck.

Businesses - run by either men or women - fail but women, for the most part, are bad for business. They grow a set of fake balls but still have the female insiduous thing they use in relationships going on, climbing the ladder by whatever means they can. If they had the talent to back it up, fair enough, but the vast majority of them don't. The combination of 'loud' and 'female' usually makes their male superiors listen and think, "This one is onto something," when their superiors should be ignoring their brashness, gender and bravado and looking at the facts.

Recently the division of a very large, international organisation I worked at was restructured and a woman exactly like this one was put in charge of my section. I warned her about the changes she was making and she ignored them even when I pointed out she was wrong in black and white. I resigned and several months later, I heard from former coworkers that auditors had reamed her and her female cronies, she has withdrawn into her shell and is extremely hard to get a hold of and the organisation is at serious risk of losing $10m+ in business. I would have liked to stay but I think I would have ended up punching her in the face myself.

"Years ago, I started noticing I was in significant physical pain when I used the computer for more than a few hours at a time. I used to spend 10+ hours a day in front of a computer. Figuring it was probably just time I invested in some better chairs, I bought myself an Aeron chair (and later, a better desk.)

Except the pain didn’t stop. If anything, it got worse.

I took more action. I started seeing a chiropractor. Later, I would add a weekly massage to my list. Today, I don’t do the weekly massage (actually, upon writing this, I realize I should probably add that back in!) but I do see a personal trainer three times a week to do workouts that stretch and build muscles I barely knew I had.

If there’s one thing that is a constant in my life, though, it’s pain.

“Supposed to”

That’s what makes me indescribably angry. I was raised to believe I could do anything I set my mind to. My mental faculties are strong–I get upset with my body when it doesn’t work like it’s “supposed to”–”supposed to”, meaning, of course, spending hours in front of a computer. (I am slowly starting to understand that that is definitely not what our bodies are “supposed to” be doing all day.)

After long talks with chiropractors, physical therapists, personal trainers, and massage therapists, there’s no real conclusion as to why this happened. My own theory: In high school, and growing up, I was ashamed of my body.

I was happy to show off my intellect, but scared of being treated like an “object”, so to this day I wear virtually no makeup and don’t like dressing up in anything that would show off my body. That same reflex caused me to slouch, as I was overly wary of “showing anything off” or being looked at by boys.

The slouching–that’s what I think caused this issue. It actually caused most of my muscles to develop in strange ways. I went to a myopractor recently, and he said, “Well, you’re an interesting case.” “Interesting” in this case meaning “messed up.” My hips were so far off that it basically seemed like one of my legs was longer than the other. And my neck bones were so out of place that I actually had one set of overdeveloped muscles, on one side, and one set of underdeveloped muscles on the other side of the bone."

Engineer here again: I've noticed over the years that women who slouch or hunch their shoulders over like they're ashamed of their chests lack self-confidence, which I imagine might be important for a CEO. Being in chronic pain sounds distracting from the mission of running a company. How many CEOs work 4 hours a day? Also, very unattractive. 4/10 at best. Nutjob.

^Good find, she definitely has some issues. Her ex-fiance should be glad he dodged a bullet. Her health issues sound like something a person in their 60's or 70's would have.

I cant remember, because I read her blog archives years ago. But I think it was something to do with either low blood sugar, or being gluten intolerant/celiac, or something like that. Iirc, she has muscle issues as well which she sees a chiropractor and/or something similar.

Her blog is actually relatively interesting(not necessarily addressing you, just people in general).

I actually heard the "dont go to college" thing from her much earlier than I heard it from RVF.

Some article about how she moved out of Cali because of the taxes. How Democrat/Republican divide is bullshit. She said she would vote for Ron Paul, and he would be the perfect candidate but she cant vote for someone who denies evolution and/or climate change(Or is pro life, cant remember, something stupid). I had to facepalm at her at that point.

Her miscellaneous business advice seemed pretty good. After all, she did make a million dollars. But having no experience Im not qualified to judge.
