at night after i've had enough drinks I can walk up to a girl and say whats up with no problem, but I can't do it during the day. I'm thinking of drinking enough to get buzzed (something like coke and hard liquor so you cant smell the alcohol) , and then start approaching. My goal is to first use this as a crutch, and with enough accumulated experience, get rid of the crutch and go sober. Any thoughts?

Shock your system first. Don't use a crutch because it will be just as hard to get from not drinking to sober day approaches as it will be from buzzed day approaches to sober day approaches. Sometimes you gotta do it like a band-aid, and remember at this point if you aren't uncomfortable in your life often you aren't pushing yourself hard enough.

Do it sober. You have to overcome your fears one day if you want to make progress. Logically you should know there is no reason to be scared of it. Don't think about it, do it.

Reason day game is good for beginners is the sheer confidence necessary to do it. You will be losing this benefit with alcohol.

You also probably will slow your progress significantly by using this 'crutch.'

One of my main reasons for doing day game is that I don't want to drink (harder at night when everyone around you is drinking).

If you feel awkward at first, try talking to other non-targets first. When you're used to talking to random people during the day, chatting up a girl doesn't feel as hard.

Don't drink. Not to be preachy but using alcohol as a crutch for anything is a good (bad) way to develop unwanted habits - trust me. When you use alcohol as a crutch it doesn't make your sober game better. It's like trying to get buff by using bad form when working out. And speaking of working out, try hitting the gym in the morning and lifting heavy. Heck, just try doing some push ups, pulls ups, squats and sit ups in your room for 30 mins if you can't make it to the gym.

I can understand why you'd go for alcohol. In a way you need to pump yourself up, get in the zone or in the mood let's say.
don't expect us to tell you what to do. if you want to drink then it's your prerogative.

There's not usually any shortage of shielas having a drink in an inner city beer garden on any given afternoon. I've always found this timeslot more productive than late nights.

I used to do this. Just get a nice buzz and go out to approach and run errands or whatever. Its always fun to drink when the suns out and mess with girls. Hit some weed to make it more interesting.

No training wheels. Don't use crutches.

There are no tricks you can play on your mind to get over anxiety. There is only one thing that has always proven reliable for me when I used to deal with this, and that is exposure.

When you start out, Be direct. Say exactly what is on your mind and don't mince words. After doing this a few times, your mind will have gotten used to the fact that nothing serious happens when you talk to a girl. I've done this for years on and off. After a while, not only does your mind get the idea that nothing bad will happen, but it becomes fun.

Some will react positively, some negatively, and some will be completely neutral.

I would say do it, but it'll take longer to get adjusted. Do it sober, maybe pop half of valium first time and after it just approach completely sober and take her to beer.

I'd say it's a bad idea. Like everyone else says you don't want to end up relying on it as a crutch. Also I think it would screw up your vibe a little bit, your a little drunk, they are stone cold sober... Going to be harder to calibrate your approach.

I agree with others, you need to throw yourself into that cold water. You will panic like fuck the first instant but after that its really not that bad at all. First few will probably feel strange. But once you hit one that goes quite well you will be amazed that its possible to create something out of nothing like that.

Try indirect if you want. But make sure you do try some direct- just to see what its like. Actually tell the girl why you noticed her and why you approached her. It might surprise you. And whats the worst that can happen? Usually flattered but not interested. Gotta go out there and experiment!

Once your a little more confident sober maybe you could try some drinking day game and report back!

I don't agree with the purist mindset for beginners I say do whatever works to get over that initial hump.

The confidence that follows will kill off the crutch with time depending on the person.

For a beginner especially taking action with a crutch over inaction in a no brainer. The reality is many people need a gentle crutch to start off on.

I witness it is an advanced person's mindset that is usually more of a purist because you would have to show them a video of their beginner days to have the reality set back in of what it is like as a beginner.

I've had a lot of success hitting on sober girls while drunk over the years, but it was never planned.

I think this sounds like a recipe for disaster. Very slippery slope.

I mean, one of the main reasons to start day-gaming is to minimize the effects that night-game can have on your health (via alcohol).
