Franco's apology just proved what I said from the jump: no game recognized.

As I mentioned in the celeb thread, I used to meet, interview and hang out with rock stars and get paid for it.

The total lack of game that some rock stars (who are publicly regarded as sex gods) showed to me first hand was stunning.

It includes one very famous rock star who invited an very physically un-attractive hotel receptionist to his room and when he was knocked back, his plan B and plan C consisted of.

B. Don't you know who I am?!
C. Begging and pleading

Game is like a muscle. If you don't use it, it atrophies.

Let's be honest:

Being direct isn't game. Being direct is being direct. It's expressing your desire to feed your ancient desire for pussy. "Come here, I'll get a room." It's what guys have been doing for tens of thousands of years. It's the equivalent of dragging a bitch back to your cave from the hair. Even 90s-era black-dude game ("Hey you got a man?") is a step above this level of directness.

Being indirect is actual game. Expressing your desire through skillful suggestion, getting her intrigued, and--in the process--protecting yourself from premature over-exposure, like Franco did in this case, is a skill. Commanding pussy to come sit on your dick isn't a skill.

He would accomplished a lot more by just saying, "Hey, let's meet up and grab an ice cream cone [by my hotel room]" than the shit he tried to pull.

This Franco Fiasco is yet another data point for the complete and utter uselessness of so-called direct game. If it can get a headlining celebrity blown out, it can certainly get any of us--no matter how huge we've managed to get at the gym or how many pocket squares we crush into our custom suits--shut down.

His mistake wasn't just apologizing, it was going so direct, and so quickly. He, after all, didn't get the pussy either. For every bitch you get by using "direct game," you leave nine on the table.

RE: James Franco's text game
^It saves time. I won't get into a debate over Indirect vs. Direct, I believe they both are useful and should both be utilized, but to say Direct Game isn't Game is a stretch.

Like I suggested in my blog breakdown of his text exchange he should have suggested meeting first, however, he had already met her outside the theatre and exchanged words. This is well documented.

It's no different than you or I meeting a girl outside a club, getting her contact, whether that's social media or number and then going direct later.

Let's not forget that he's an A List actor and has probably slayed more Grade A ass then half the forum combined. He doesn't NEED to beat around the bush. He is the prize, but his execution was slightly off. Does he give two fucks? Nah.

And yes going direct may get you blown out more, but it also saves you tons of time. A man of high value doesn't have time to waste on a girl who is playing games.

Like I said before I don't want to get into a debate because it'll never end. They both work, but I disagree with saying Direct isn't Game.

RE: James Franco's text game
What's interesting about this is that his bad game seems to have possibly had an influence on his lifestyle (career).

So, you can't go and be successful and have bad game because you are being a bigger a target, and could probably get accomplishments knocked down.

I think the root of his problem isn't in the conversation. A guy that famous could have handlers to prevent something like this from happening.

So, maybe in someways it is better to be the guy who isn't famous, but appears to be... like Distantlight, who gets the player lifestyle of the famous people without the repercussions. He can always disappear into anonymity.

DistantLight > Franco

Actually, knowing when to pull the trigger and go direct is game.

I know guys who are good all the direct stuff, but they don't seal the deal. They get so close to finish line, but they don't push or go direct.

This happens to a lot of newbies.

Direct or indirect, you have to know where you are on the map to pussy. If you get your bearings messed up, you come off as incongruent.

Franco was still fucking up by asking her these stupid questions that show way too much investment: "do you have a bf"

She knows he's famous, so why would he be asking if she had boyfriend? It seems off. Maybe she thought she was being scammed- the fact that she's asking him to prove himself and all that (he also messed up by complying with her demands.. think about how much money it costs to get Franco to do something.. he totally dropped the ball here).

I think famous people are expected to be smooth. They are held to a higher standard because they've surpassed other people in terms of social capital.

I'm watching basketball but I can't wait to debate this later.. It is interesting.. A lot of the debate is just about "semantics" and how we choose to define "game".. I'll say this for now.. Celebs play by different rules.. Maybe, he likes going direct because it attracts a certain type of girl? Maybe direct is more fun for him? Maybe he was just experimenting? Maybe he was jerking off?

Who knows? I dont think we can judge his game just based on this one exchange.

Personally, I would have like to see him be a little more poetic and tactful like Tuthmosis suggested but who I am to judge the game of a fucking celebrity?!? It's a different ballgame.

If that works for him then God bless him.

But, we dont really know his conversion rate. We only know of this one instance.. 0/1 = no statistical significance..

RE: James Franco's text game
We could easily get into an extended ontological discussion on the definition of "game", and what it is, or is not. Reasonable minds will differ.

But few would dispute that there is a spectrum of game "styles". On one end is a more forward, direct type of game. And on the other end of the spectrum is a more indirect, subtle, or stealthy game. Agreed so far? Good.

In this sense, it is true to say that direct game is a legitimate form of game, as McQueen says.

Which game style one deploys depends on one's environment, target, personality, and circumstance. What might work for one man or one situation, might not work for another.

Humans are creatures of habit, and seek the path of least resistance. Men will do more to avoid pain than to seek pleasure. Franco, as a celebrity, has become accustomed to a certain habitual regularity and predictability to his social interactions with women. He gets instant validation most of the time for just showing up and not fucking up. He does not need to do what most of us need to do.

But even with Franco's very narrowly circumscribed boundaries of conduct, there are rules. And the big rule with young women is: don't scare away the animals. By any reasonable measure, Franco flubbed this one up. I get the sense that he could have closed, if he had just tightened up his text delivery a bit. Even in Franco's world, there are rules. And one of the cardinal rules is: don't talk the girl out of having sex with you. By being a celebrity, you come with a huge head start. All you have to do is guide the interaction along, and not fuck up. And yet he fucked up.

His text game should have been less forward, as I said in my earlier post. A direct proposition like that is going to freak out a 17 year old, even if he had already "met" her earlier. So, in that sense, Franco's game was bad, as Tuthmosis noted.

Celebrities are operating in a whole different frame of reference. When things come easily to you, you don't learn certain lessons. I suppose we can't blame him, really.

It's a shame, because I really think he could have closed this one. But the stupid question about the boyfriend, and, even worse, the immediate proposition for a hotel room, sunk him. She freaked and bailed.

Ah well, James. Welcome to our world.

RE: James Franco's text game
I still think its possible that he is doing this because he likes it and he gets off on it.

He might be going this direct because thats the kind of sexual experience HE wants.

I mean, this direct shit could be like a fetish for HIM.

It's also a screening mechanism, the type of chick who will respond to direct is different from the type of chick who will respond to "indirect". Maybe he wants a "direct" chick..?

Celebrities do some weird stuff sexually.

This is how my text game goes most days. I meet a girl who shows interest. I escalate to meeting for sex right after I get the number and 7 times out of 10 she wants nothing to do with me.

You will understand once you get to level of abundance.

Yup. Also if a girl is not a 9 or 10 I find myself having very little patience. Especially once you get in an LTR with a hot one and try to get balance side chicks. It's a blessing and a curse. I sometimes wish I had the patience.

When direct game works it's often a combination of direct game and passive game.

Say what you will about Franco's direct game, his passive game is fucking gold.

He blew one lay, but he gained 100,000 Instagram followers in a day.

How many of them do you think are messaging him for a bang?

This was a win for Franco. Abundance. Next.

RE: James Franco's text game
I'm no James Franco, but when I was in the zone game almost became a full time job and I got very direct and pushy to just smoke out the tire kickers.

If someone hacked my phone, probably there's a lot of things that would make guys say, "BAD GAME!"

And yet I banged out enough girls and did enough crazy stuff that most wouldn't even believe some of the stunts.

I have texted nothing but a picture of a ball gag and handcuffs and eye mask to girls after the perfunctory "hi" texts.

2 in 3 didn't reply but 1 in 3 would start asking questions. Some would be timid and some would say, "Hot! I've always wanted to do something like that but no guy would ever do it to me."

I throw our some pre-written fantasies. A paragraph or two at a time, to see what they say. Get them aroused.

Usually they say, "Then what?"

And then I'm at a hotel having a girl who has never met me in real life coming up to live our her darkest fantasies.

Bad game because it didn't "work" 2 out of 3 times? Well, I got what I wanted...and so did she.

And I didn't waste time at wine bars.

Or have to drink alcohol or engage in other unhealthy activities to get laid.

Basically...Work, shoot out some "bad game" texts like that....and then meet girls for sex.

Heck, how often do I even complain about American girls?

Once your game is tight and you screen out certain girls, you just don't even have these problems that other guys complain about.

So maybe going direct offers a lot of benefits, too.

It sets a masculine frame. I'm a man. I don't ask permission. I take what I want.

Girls who are put off by that are going to be gone. Disgusted. Maybe tell me I'm a horrible person.

Girls who like that are going to be the more feminine, submissive ones. They like to call you daddy.

I could go on all day, but it seems like "indirect v. direct," like "lifestyle v. game" strikes a nerve.

But I know what worked for me and my theory is that it worked because it sets a masculine frame from jump.

No nonsense. It's game that doesn't look like game.

I can't recall one movie he did

He is a good example of the current crop of celebrities whose stock is @premium due to the existence of the non-stop, content-craving, trivial gossip-obsessed, social media/blogosphere universe. This is vastly different world then in the past where media reported only on the lives of superstars (and superstars were a handful of hand-picked, studio-groomed looks +- talent.)

Franco's professional value is high because of the amount of superficial attraction traction he gets online. The gossip rags indulge him positively because he is young, pleasant-looking, safe-looking, white & ethnic, somewhat talented actor. Whatever he does is reported in blogs and his visibility/exposure rises further. (Young females love him because he's 'in' online, and he is 'in' online because young females love him.)

Without internet, relying mostly on his acting chops he would be considered B-lister in the film industry (as late as 20-30 years ago) and would largely be unknown outside of it.

MikeCF,

Great post on the power of going direct!

Like you said, some girls are turned on by our directness.

A hot little Filapina girl was just telling me that she likes "aggressive guys".

One of my favorite comedians was just talking about how girls nowadays grow up on porn and thus are more willing to experiment with extreme sexual behavior.

The point I want to make is this -- Going direct is fun and exciting! For me, for MikeCF, for James Franco, and for all the girls who like to experiment with the limits of their sexuality.

Why should I go indirect when I know there are plenty of girls out there who like it direct? I know that 99% of guys are using "indirect", I don't want to be like them, I want to be different.

Indirect gets boring after a while, I want give the girls and myself a fresh experience.
