If you're in a place like NYC paying your own way means $200+ if you're solo or something like $300 each if you're in a group. When you're going out 2-3x a week, that's impossible to keep up with unless you're in the .01%. For a guy like me, I'd rather hustle my way in a couple times then apply what I learned from McQueen:

The way I see it it's better to throw the doorman a $20 on your way out than pay him $200 to get in.
