Facebook Acquires Virtual Reality Technology - Less Attractive Women Going Obsolete

Mark Zuckerberg Wrote:I'm excited to announce that we've agreed to acquire Oculus VR, the leader in virtual reality technology.
Our mission is to make the world more open and connected. For the past few years, this has mostly meant building mobile apps that help you share with the people you care about. We have a lot more to do on mobile, but at this point we feel we're in a position where we can start focusing on what platforms will come next to enable even more useful, entertaining and personal experiences.
This is where Oculus comes in. They build virtual reality technology, like the Oculus Rift headset. When you put it on, you enter a completely immersive computer-generated environment, like a game or a movie scene or a place far away. The incredible thing about the technology is that you feel like you're actually present in another place with other people. People who try it say it's different from anything they've ever experienced in their lives.
Oculus's mission is to enable you to experience the impossible. Their technology opens up the possibility of completely new kinds of experiences.
Immersive gaming will be the first, and Oculus already has big plans here that won't be changing and we hope to accelerate. The Rift is highly anticipated by the gaming community, and there's a lot of interest from developers in building for this platform. We're going to focus on helping Oculus build out their product and develop partnerships to support more games. Oculus will continue operating independently within Facebook to achieve this.
But this is just the start. After games, we're going to make Oculus a platform for many other experiences. Imagine enjoying a court side seat at a game, studying in a classroom of students and teachers all over the world or consulting with a doctor face-to-face -- just by putting on goggles in your home.
This is really a new communication platform. By feeling truly present, you can share unbounded spaces and experiences with the people in your life. Imagine sharing not just moments with your friends online, but entire experiences and adventures.
These are just some of the potential uses. By working with developers and partners across the industry, together we can build many more. One day, we believe this kind of immersive, augmented reality will become a part of daily life for billions of people.
Virtual reality was once the dream of science fiction. But the internet was also once a dream, and so were computers and smartphones. The future is coming and we have a chance to build it together. I can't wait to start working with the whole team at Oculus to bring this future to the world, and to unlock new worlds for all of us.
Virtual reality HB10 porn is getting closer to reality - leading to the price of pussy reaching new lows. Presumably Facebook won't allow porn software but people will find a way.

RE: Facebook Acquires Virtual Reality Technology - Less Attractive Women Going Obsolete
Totally agree with RawGod, much of the satisfaction of having sex with an attractive woman is to know she's there because we somehow managed to attract her, either because we have some random physical trait she might find attractive, or that we were bold or our personality is attractive to her in some manner or a myriad of other possibilities, but the point is she's there because she wants to be with us. That's why masturbation and sex with prostitutes is never satisfying, but at least prostitutes are real women, virtual reality sex is just stupid. Maybe those guys on the beta threads can find some use for it but I doubt any healthy and mentally sane men will care much for this.

My thoughts. It would have been better if Google acquired it.
I'm glad for the founders though. Living the dream.

Make it look and feel as realistic as you want, your logical brain still knows you're not interacting with a real woman, that your manhood has not enchanted another human being to voluntarily enter the bedroom with you.
Even prostitution doesn't seem like it could supplant the real deal... I'm informed that 'escorts' are widely available on Craigslist and such, but stigma notwithstanding, would even the most omega of men actually be contented and fulfilled in the long run by anything short of authentic relationships and seduction?
Maybe I'm giving men way too much credit.
You're right, it won't be long-run fulfilling on the level that interaction with an attractive, real and unpaid woman is.
But it satisfies an immediate urge more pleasurably and more deceptively realistic to your brain than current porn and does so in minutes as compared to:
getting your place tidied up / going out/chatting up women / finding one willing to go home with you / foreplay and sex / getting her out of your place
So even without being fulfilling in the long-run, by satisfying immediate desire, it lowers the price men as a whole are willing to pay for sex (not relationships, just sex with non-pros). Porn has already done that - compare $/bang today vs. a decade ago or a decade before that. VR porn takes that to the next level.

Come up with a novel idea that is easy to execute with cheap VR tech
Fund yourself with donations from Kickstarter using a good marketing tactic
Become the first in the field with constant publicity, managing to attract great names in tech (John Carmack) and free help from companies like Valve.
Sell yourself for a couple billion to a big tech darling that's looking to branch into other markets
I saw the article on Bloomberg today. The writer really lays into Oculus, Kickstarter and the "suckers" who funded the company. He REALLY doesn't like the Kickstarter business model:
http://www.bloombergview.com/articles/20...your-money
Why so negative? Admittedly the deal Oculus offered backers doesn't sound too good, but a lot of kickstarter companies do make good offers. Usually to ship you one of the first products produced, the money collected being used to produce them. Is this such a terrible deal? They are not misleading people by implying that you are buying equity in the company. Most people back Kickstater projects because they think the product idea is cool. I really don't see the harm.
Stupid article. It's not a scam when you get exactly what is advertised in no ambiguous terms. Personally I would not want to part with $25 for a "thank you" and a chance the product will become a reality, but if someone else does why not let them? No need to call them "stupid". It's a donation, not an investment.
The nice thing about kickstarter is often that you can get the product for cheaper than retail in return for taking the risk that it will never exist. This is called a fair deal (i.e. you get compensated for risk you are taking. It is assumed you would buy the product for the full retail price if it already existed).
