Audiobooks for me have a very useful place. I have to do some driving as part of my job. I don't want to listen to the news, as I find that it is too negative. Audiobooks are the perfect alternative. I can control all the content, and actually learn something as I drive.

Last week I finished Steven Mitchell's translation of the Iliad.

I see reading as the real food and audio books as the supplement. Both have their place but I cannot survive on just supplements; I need the real thing.

But as we are wont to say: don't let the perfect (reading) be the enemy of the good (audio books).
