Hard to believe, but these magazines ruled the newsstands in the 1950's and 60's. With garish color paintings, you could sit down and relive any number of WW2 battles, real or imagined. Titles such as "Argosy", "Saga", "True", and "Men's Life" gave the veteran something to relive the one time in his life when it had meaning. Before coming back home, marrying the girl next door and raising kids who were into that "rock and roll noise". They died out when the manly arts went into decline in the late 1960's, but you can find any number of gun or fitness magazines appealing to the same audience today.

I love 'em. My re-issue of Daygame Nitro will be in that style of cover and layout.
