"I like to serve everybody. My teammates. Ushers at the game. The fans," Durant said in an interview Friday, when asked why he chose "The Servant" as his new moniker.

Despite being one of the game's biggest stars, Durant never has truly embraced a nickname. The 6-foot-9, 240-pound All-Star has tried to distance himself from the "Slim Reaper," previously telling the Oklahoman newspaper, "I'm not here to be a guy of, I guess, death."

I watched an OKC game last year on NBC and I swear they were calling Durant "Iceberg Slim."

As nicknames go you can't do much better than that.

I liked 'durantula'.

He does serve people but the servant is a pretty lame nick name.

Do you guys not know what it means "to serve" someone in basketball, or in black culture in general?

I think he should have gone for "The SerVER" not -VANT. Grammatical error or what have you. Slim Reaper is good but maybe he doesn't want to "own his body" and his slimness...lol

Funny thing is, it's a better nickname for LeBron considering his amazing assist numbers.

Fair enough, but as the face of the OKC franchise, I'd like to think he's already paid his dues as a "servant." Dude is a leader.
