Apologies guys. I have RTFF however just seeking clarity on where the best area is to stay in JAkarta. I am have been reading about x2 and Dragonfly so thinking where would be convenient to stay in regards to those places. Budget is around $50 a night. Travelling mid March.

This is my first post however I have been an avid reader of the forum for several years. My background is that I work for an airline so very fortunate to travel on the cheap and travel long haul from the UK for my work. So pleasure too meet you and if you looking for any success in Japan or especially Hong Kong, then I may be able to advise. Capt Carnage

In the best place you can afford as close as possible to Selamat Datang Monument (large roundabout in Sudirman .. central Jakarta). Alternatively a little further south towards Plaza Senayan. No reason to be further north. You don't need extreme proximity to clubs because you will travel there when traffic is ok (after 10pm). Be very close to whereever you want to be in the day.

You may want to check Morrissey Apartments in CBD, it's a 10 minute walk to Grand Indonesia and Plaza Indonesia. I was able to pick up a room for $75/cad a night for next month.
