First, all entertainers are attention whores. How is this different from being on TV or a stand-up comic, if you take morality out of it?

This article is refreshing in so many ways:

1. It displays how useless most college degrees are. My wife, who has a GED, knows how to do office administration and does it well. This broad, who has spent tens of thousands of her parents money and her own opportunity cost for attending school, who doubtless would look down on someone with a GED has essentially been fired from the same job, from which she was earning nothing to begin with.

2. In the end, she doesn't resolve to work harder, or learn how to do the most basic shit like use excel...she resorts to her two choices of natural professions. Wife/mother or whore. Despite her hamster-rama of reasoning why she's doing it she is still doing what she is genetically suited for, using zero of the things she earned her masters for.

i wish high school guidance counselors could have this story written in plain language and say something like "Listen Marina, you are moderately attractive and 18. Your best current career options are a) cam girl or some other sex trade or b) taking a basic job while learning wife skills in order to land a husband. You can either do this now, or delude yourself for 6 years, spend tens of thousands of dollars and end up doing this same thing anyway." This would contrast to "Listen Zelda, you are a 4 at best...I recommend you pursue accounting or library studies because you are likey not going to have men chasing you your whole life and shouldn't be in any work related field where you have to work with other hot women"

This whole "go to university, be a career woman" pep talk should be reserved for ugly women only...they are the only ones who this is a better choice for than using their looks to earn income.

The only point in this article I see is that she purposely got into a perverse career and then publicized it to get a major book/movie/series deal.

This article and some related layoffs I've been seeing make me think that there's a market correction going on that's long overdue. The vast majority of women cannot function very well in results oriented jobs, so they're going to be forced back into domestic roles or pleasing men as some kind of sex worker. Hopefully, a in post-recession world where most jobs can be done cheaply through automation or outsourcing for repetitive tasks, a lot of companies will realize that giving women pretend jobs in human resources or social media just isn't helpful to your bottom line.
