Both of them are wrong, a lot wrong. The National Survey of Sexual Attitudes and Lifestyles asks 15,000 British adults about their sexual experiences through face-to-face interviews. But some more sensitive questions are reserved for a self-completed questionnaire.

One of those sensitive questions is "have you had any sex in the past four weeks?". The chart below shows the percentage of respondents that said no.

What's happening?

Depending on who you are and what assumptions you have about sexual activity, these results from the Medical Research Council might surprise you. For me, one anomaly jumps out straight away: the gap between men and women.

On average, there is an 8 percentage point difference between the men and women who answered. That's a considerable gap that would mean millions more men than women have had sex in the past four weeks. There seem to be four possible explanations for that discrepancy.

1. Homosexual men outnumber homosexual women and they have more sex
2. Several men are sleeping with the same woman - and that situation is being repeated nationwide
3. Men are more more likely to lie to make it seem that they're having more sex
4. Women are more likely to lie to make it seem like they are having less sex

Without more data on sexual preferences and attitudes, it's not possible to work out which of those is the case.

The missing virgins

Explanations 3 and 4 above show how important wording is. Asking 'have you had any sex in the past four weeks?' could elicit very different responses to 'has anyone willingly had sex with you in the past four weeks?'.

In fact, even the four weeks bit is very important. Those bars in the chart above represent people that haven't had sex in the past four weeks, but they also represent people that haven't had sex in the past four months, the past four years and even people that have never had sex. But because there's only one question, phrased in only one way, it's not clear how that breaks down.

There is one company that thinks they do know, because their profitability depends on them knowing: Durex. Only, rather than calling it 'virginity' they keep a close eye on 'age at first sex' and they seem to know a lot about it. For example, their 2007 survey found that PhD students will on average have their first sexual experience at 20.25 years, compared to 19 years for those who never completed university. Silver linings maybe.

Durex even claim to know how the age at which people first have sex varies between countries. Malaysia has the highest average age in the world (23.7 years) and it also has the highest rate of confidence (42% of Malaysians felt they were ready for that first sexual encounter). Silver linings maybe.

By contrast, Austrians feel almost as confident (38% of the said they were ready) even though the average age they first have sex is considerably younger; 17.5 years old. So clearly, age isn't everything.

I believe it. As much as men keep repeating that all women are promiscuous sluts, study after study keeps showing that a lot of us are having sex with the same bishes. Hell, even over here in Southeast Asia where it's supposed to be so easy to get laid, members on this forum repeatedly keep finding out they're doing the same girls. Women often go longer without sex and it doesn't affect them as much, and the ones that do get laid on the regular usually latch on to a guy and stick with him for a while.

They can run through guys on the regular if they want, of course, but not all do it.

By the way, something that stood out for me is that map with the average sex age. Indonesia showing 23 - 25 especially sounds nice. Not a big surprise but interesting nonetheless - good place for guys who like virgins or are seeking long-term set-ups, I'd say.

Yep. I don't have the link right now, but I do recall a very thorough study that found this to be true. The problem, though, was that these women had sex mostly with men who have had 10+ partners a year (in other words, once a nice girl eventually has sex, she has a huge chance of having with a player, leaving the infinite Beta hordes dry).

Always keep in mind that a woman can be a worthless slut without being promiscuous at all. Just look at that "worst christian woman" that was described a few weeks ago.

It's weird looking back, but as members of this forum, we often forget how LITTLE guys get laid when they have no game/aren't red-pill.

My close-friend group in Britain was considered very 'promiscuous' while we were at university.

I used to think I got laid frequently, but oh man was I deluded. It's an absolute joke that we got labelled with that term.

Our mate 'Alex' banged eight girls one year and was seen as 'the man' of the group. On Facebook, when something funny came up, we'd joke about 'sending in Alex' to clear the place up. The comments would get like twenty 'likes'.

Outside our group though, there were plenty of good-looking guys who were only averaging one girl a year or less.

I did Civil Engineering. It was 90% guys. Despite the nerdy subject, a lot of the dudes were were really good looking and well-built. But, they weren't getting any play, despite going out three times a week.

I can't think of anyone who was getting more than our (reflectively) paltry amount, and we were the kids sporting emo fringes and skinny jeans FFS! We just loved drinking and understood you had to approach.

I remember one guy in particular. He's easily an 8/10, but I think he's still a virgin! He looks great. He works out every day and has a chiseled jaw, but he doesn't approach. It's unfathomable how a guy like him can't get laid when that 5/10 bitch at closing time is always leaving with someone.

So, how many guys don't approach/don't know game/don't think like us? (recent ROK articles are an indication) the VAST majority, right?

Hell, how many guys even have an interest in getting laid? Many young guys are content with alcohol, video games and social media these days.

So yeah, in conclusion, if anything, these rates seem high to me.

Awhile back a few old friends were at the bar begging me to come out. It was around midnight and they asked what was taking so long. I sent a picture of the girls pussy that i was with.

I've been involved in the Scientific Process enough times to know that if you give a woman a self-report form and the promise of full anonymity, she'll operate under the assumption that she's secretly being judged, and so won't answer truthfully: she'll just give what she guesstimates is a socially-acceptable answer based upon her hamster. You can see it happening: men fill them out quickly, wanting to get it over. Women go to mark something, pause, think, pause again, then fill in the bubble they weren't hovering over initially.

I've, (very-tactfully), argued against them repeatedly for this reason, but they're a low-effort way to draw spurious assumptions from vague data sets, and the cost of the experiment is much cheaper, so it's more likely to secure funding. Junk methodology for junk science.

So yeah, Everybody's a whore or nobody's fucking is spot on. Who knows? Though, based on those figures, I'm probably a dirty fucking manwhore.
