Colombia once again ranked happiest country in the world
http://colombiareports.co/colombia-ranke...ld-survey/

For the second year in a row, Colombia has topped the list as the world’s happiest country, according to a survey released Thursday by WIN-Gallup.

The survey known as the 2014 Barometer of Happiness and Hope reported that of the 1,012 Colombians polled, 86% self-reported as “happy,” while only 2% reported themselves as “unhappy.” This represents a rise of 9% from 2012 when 77% of respondents rated themselves as “happy.”

Over half, 58%, of respondents reported they would not change countries.

The international market research company conducted surveys in 65 countries.

Fiji, Finland and Argentina follow Colombia in terms of self-reported happiness, according to the poll.

A majority of Colombians who would leave the country would choose Canada as a a new country of residence, according to the poll.

The poll also reported that 35% of Colombians were optimistic about the economic situation for 2014.

They also reported that 65% of Colombian believe the political situation could be improved with greater female participation in politics.

I dont know about fiji (never been) but those other countries mentioned above for the highest happiness have one thing in common:

Hot women.

Is that the key to happiness?

About 9 years ago I dated a woman from Colombia that was here in NYC. She was great, but a little too loquita for me. We stayed friends though and she eventually got knocked up by some dude and became a single Mother (by choice) and moved back to Medellin. Her Facebook page is littered with posts bragging about her independence and single motherhood while at the same time bashing the Father (men). She is now a feminist through and through. She didn't start out that way though. Damn shame.

From this report it sounds like the economy is doing much, much better. Probably wont be long until it's a like the West. Damn shame.

Wait. I'm so confused. The US isn't #1?

But I thought iPhones, Instagram, obesity, 60 hour work weeks and 5 hours of sleep each night was the path to happiness.

tbh, I don't think we are. We do bullshit a lot in foreign polls. We are not miserable, tho. I have one single reason to call bs on that : Where did they ask and how? The walls and differences within classes and regions is so huge this always skews the polls, so much that in some of them we are top 10 and in others in the 30's.

For example, if you ask me cold turkey if I am happy, I will tell you I am, even if I am not. We don't spill our problems to people we dont know or trust.

I don't doubt we are a rather cheerful country, we have to, but from that to top 3 there is too much under the rug.

Didn't one of these polls rank DC as the best US city for bachelors also?

All polls like this are pretty much bullshit.

One thing that I do admire about Colombian people is that they don't complain very much, even though they have quite a bit to complain about.

God damned them all, I was told we'd cruise the seas for American gold, we'd fire no guns-shed no tears, now I'm a broken man on a Halifax pier, the last of Barrett's privateers!

lol

I thought the happiest countries were the ones where the blonde viking chicks are from.

According to Forbes, Norway is the Top 1: http://www.forbes.com/sites/christopherh...ries-2013/
According to HuffingtonPost, Denmark is the happiest one: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/09/09...de=2888597

but Colombia is the country who makes tourists the happiest ones, maybe, you guys can confirm it Big Grin

Don't they measure their economy in GDH (Gross Domestic Happiness)?
