The Good Men Project is Worse Than Jezebel
Heartsie's latest blog post was about The Good Men Project:
https://heartiste.wordpress.com/2014/01/...g-project/
For those that don't know, The Good Men project is a site for male feminists. Hugo Schwyzer used to write for them, and several major feminists frequently post to their site, trying to tell men what constitutes being a good man.
When I first saw the site, I really wanted to like it. The mission statement was to create a place where men could tell their stories. Isn't that basically what the manosphere is? There were some minor issues I agreed with them on - like the importance of men receiving affectionate touch, or being a part of their children's lives. But the moment they start talking about gender and dating... in the words of feminists, wow, just wow.
This article is titled "Does Masculinity Require Negativity?"
http://goodmenproject.com/featured-conte...ty-hesaid/
No, but that article title does.
There was a wave of bashing on them a month ago, like a fart passing through the room. I'm curious what others have noticed from the site and if they've read their articles or met anyone who seriously tried to follow their advice. What's your take on the GMP?
**BTW, does anyone know if they were involved in that "men apologize" video that made it's way through the new age community a month or two ago?

RE: The Good Men Project is Worse Than Jezebel
As far as I know, the GMP had nothing to do with that awful "we apologize" video. Regardless, the GMP is all about "progressivism" and all the unrealistic social expectations that go with that ideology. When that website attempts to inject gender politics into attraction and dating, it's perfectly reasonable for us Manosphere guys to go apeshit. A "progressive" point of view believes that attraction can be socially influenced. Worse such an ideology will actually try to even socially mandate how attraction works.
We know better. Successful dating coaches know better. PUA guys know better. Shit, even the MRA guys know better. Attraction is not about social expectations.
The argument can be made, of course, that the GMP is just another progressive media outlet to ensure that guys with no confidence stay that way. But as a guy who had no confidence earlier in his life and was terrible with women, I read articles like the one referenced in the OP, it seriously raises my ire.
The progressive ideology focuses way too much on the fringe, the exceptions. Just how many men actually do identify as women? Is it so many that such men's attraction and dating expectations must seriously influence all men's attraction and dating expections? Society is cis-gendered and heteronormative. That won't change despite the GMP's efforts to the contrary.

RE: The Good Men Project is Worse Than Jezebel
Any male feminist is his own worst enemy. There's a difference between anti-feminism (which is what most of us are) and a misogynist. Of course, the white knights and Jezebelites see something like "promote masculinity" and believe that we're automatically misogynists.
Quote:MRA solution: Pay a lot of money to creepy men who label themselves “pickup artists” and who promise to teach you how to get any woman you want in bed. The method usually involves taking an abusive posture to women, and learning to identify insecure women, extracting sex from them through bullying. You know, instead of doing something as quaint as sleeping with women who actually want to have sex with you.
Reality-based solution: More feminism. A world where rape victims weren’t denounced because they were overly flirty, where women weren’t mocked because they acted “like men,” and where the word “slut” had no meaning is one where women would feel freer to hit on men. Plus, a world where women weren’t harassed on the street, or where they could tell men “no” and be heard the first time, would be one where women weren’t immediately suspicious of every man who approached them.
This section makes me want to vomit. Does this guy realize that game allows two open people to have sex with one another? Game isn't bullying or coercing women into sex through threats of violence. Rather, it's a combination of using evolutionary triggers and pretty basic psychology in order to allow two people to have sex.
"Abusive posture?" What the fuck is this woman (because the "good men project" needs women to make its points) talking about? The betas are just as (and perhaps more) manipulative than the sleaziest PUA there is. At least the "creepy pickup artist" doesn't deny his masculine nature in order to please people. And by the way, saying "no" is part of her anti-slut shield, which is programmed in due to a series of evolutionary measures.
Heartiste is absolutely correct on this. Regardless of whether or not people want to admit it, gender roles are still highly important when it comes to attracting women. Generally men should lead, and women should follow. This isn't being a dick, it's simply putting the truth out there.

PUA and manosphere guys disavow any kind of coercion, subterfuge or force in seducing a woman. If you have to drug a woman, blackmail her or force yourself on her, you would be regarded as pathetic in this community. It takes skill to be able to reliably pull 7's and up. The way the feminists hate us is amusing. It reminds me of when people who get cheated on get angrier with the other man/woman than their significant other. If they're so mad that our methods work, then maybe they should direct their anger at the women who sleep with us willingly and reward us for our seduction strategies. But that would require introspection, accountability and reason, something feminists have shown they have a really hard time with.

RE: The Good Men Project is Worse Than Jezebel
Define worse. Depending on what you mean, Jezebel is worse.
Jezebel wins the delusional/dysfunctional contest. Denton employs a certified murderers' row of batshit bitches on his feminist blog. The articles write themselves since the formula is simple. Man did something = misogyny. Morbidly obese single mom with leprosy does something = you go girl!. And let's not forget their old standby. Word + Rape = pageviews. And these heavy-hitting writers all bring the same unique voice. Namely, they can fill their articles about feminist buzzwords, funny-looking cats, and chubby actresses with a string all-caps swear words that stretch for two lines. This is their world. These are the writings of lost, ugly souls, whose words only appeal to others who similarly fucked.
The Good Men Project does worse damage because it has a male audience. Ultimately, women do not decide to be unpleasant, ugly cunts (with some exceptions on the margin). Men allow them to be. Because no matter how much feminists bleat about being independent, they all depend on men. It takes certain conditions for women to grow to be as bad as they currently are in the West, conditions that men established and currently maintain. The vast majority of these men, without clue and forever hard-up, grant a license to women to act as they please. Only a handful of men call girls on their shit.
What makes the Good Men Project so dangerous is that its message isn't seen as radical, yet they call for a state of affairs unprecedented in society. They want men to apologize for merely being. They want to take the masculine energy that built civilization and turn that into a fat, hairy pussy. Jezebel convinces the already lost to embrace their worst. The Good Men Project want men to surrender to women.

RE: The Good Men Project is Worse Than Jezebel
Quote:What does it mean when Dr. Steven Lake is straight but one of the best kisses he’s ever received came from a guy?"
This title got my attention. The article is one of dumbest things I've read in a while.
Quote:When I was 23 years old, I was living in a West Coast city and had been hired for an eight-month acting gig that was fourteen hours away by train in a city in the middle of nowhere. It was a mild mid-August day when I boarded and flopped myself down on the bench seat. While looking out the window a woman sat down opposite me and smiled. Smiling is good, I thought. We whiled away the time talking to each other and flirting—or at least I was flirting. We sailed passed the coastal mountains, the Rockies and then onto the prairies. Fourteen hours is a long time to be flirting. I was definitely aroused, some might say suffering, by the time we pulled into the train station and parted ways.
I quickly walked to my friend’s place. He was a dancer . . . and yes, he was gay. He was a beautiful black man and we had been friends for over a year. I arrived at his place exhausted. It was late and going to sleep was my only thought. The couch looked promising but he offered to have me sleep in his bed—a large king sized bed, with satin sheets if I recall. Without thinking, I said thanks and was asleep before my head hit the pillow.
In my dream, I was kissing the girl from the train. It was so erotic and real. And then, ever so slowly, I started to wake up. It was like moving through molasses, everything in slow motion. I clawed my way back to consciousness and slowly realized that I was kissing, not the girl of my dreams, but the man in my bed—or rather, his bed. I put my hands on his shoulders and gently pushed him away, breaking the kiss. My thinking was slow but clear and I told him that as great as the kiss was, I was not inclined to continue.
You have to realize, up to that moment I had never been faced with such a direct challenge to my sexual orientation or had the opportunity to see which way I might swing. My conditioning was seriously challenged. It did not feel like it was a conscious decision on my part. It was as if some other part of me was talking and rediscovered in that moment. I also saw how easy it would have been to sleep with him. He had a beautiful face and body and I genuinely liked him.
My friend was not easily dissuaded and promised me the best blowjob in the world. I have no doubt that it would have been. After all, it was the best kiss I ever had. We bantered back and forth for ten minutes or so and he finally got that “no” meant “no.” That was it. We both went to sleep with no hard feelings.
But I think this moment is worth considering. I had just woken up from a dream and found myself kissing a man. This was the first man I had ever kissed in a sexual way. My response, after I broke away, was not anger, much to my surprise, but a calm, collected assertion of my preference for women. It was almost as if I was looking after his feelings. Simultaneously, I was thinking about the situation. I was in an aroused state during the dream and the wake-up process. If I wanted to explore or expand my sexual experiences, this was as good an opportunity as any. But I didn’t. Why not?
This story takes place just before HIV/AIDS swept across the world so I wasn’t worried for my health. The “no” was visceral but was it me or my conditioning? Why do I even question what happened? One thing is for sure, the experience is strongly imprinted on my mind, both the decision to say no and my gentle but clear communication with my friend afterwards.
Ahhh, these manginas and their beloved "conditioning". So saying no to a guy who comes onto you in your sleep is because of conditioning? Being straight is because of conditioning?
Imagine if this was a girl writing the article who had been sexually assaulted in her sleep. The rape sirens would be going on all cylinders (and rightly so for once).
