This seems like an obvious one, but they finally did scientific research on it. It's strange how the game-o-sphere seems to always be way ahead of the science world. Does that mean that scientists aren't alpha in general? Maybe they are all nerds.

Something about this girl annoys me--probably the fact that despite her excess gummage, excess ~15 pounds, and possible cross-eyedness, she'll still have hordes of nerds and "I FUCKING LOVE SCIENCE" nerd wannabes pining after her.

Anyway, this finding checks out with comparative morphology. However, at least across species, it appears that the relationship between testes size and paternal investment is not direct, but rather mediated through female promiscuity, with which both have a negative association:

The moderate amounts of sexual non-monogamy in humans may result in a low to moderate amount of sperm competition. Also, notably, in the case of an avowedly sexually monogamous society, the occurrence of sexual nonmonogamy is typically culturally stigmatized, and therefore detecting its prevalence is inherently difficult, if indeed it is at all possible. At best, such statistics can be viewed as general approximations with a wide margin of error.
