med coast france may have large numbers of female retirees-- remember women live longer than men, so these charts may be quite misleading. retirement communities would be very pink, right? So would nursing homes...?

Yes and the data is from 2008 but you would think the trends are similar dependent on birth rates etc

These figures may be worthless for us.

The biggest factor is that women outlive men, so a high female to male sex ratio could just mean everyone is old. Plus there are other factors that may make a place full if women unattractive, like religiosity, lack of density, poor talent, etc.

Yes agreed BUT this data is for 25-29 year olds NOT female zimmer frame drivers

I see I failed to read the large, bold caption hahah.

Thinking about it though, what about the competition in those desirable urban areas from 30-45 high-earner men? (outside the age range of the chart) Don't want to be pessimistic though , people say NYC is poosy. paradise....
