Need advice: Apartment life
Looking for some advice from big city RVFers who live the apartment life.

I moved into a new apartment in October. I knew I would be having a surgery and might need some family to come help so I got a decent place without roommates, washer/dyer and half-kitchen. All said and done I pay about $50/night to stay here.

The first six weeks were fine. The majority of the tenants are Asian students who drive Beamers, Audi and VW and only speak Chinese to one another. Perfect.

About two weeks ago the tenant above me started getting noisy and having a few parties. I was recovering from surgery so I was able to sleep in (read: out of a job) so I didn't make a fuss. Then I got a job. Then I spoke to her three different times. Then I bought some ear plugs. She's probably 18-20 yo student (not Asian) with entitlement issues. Her eyes glazed over as I politely - yet with confident body language and a steady slow voice - asked her to quiet down.

The apartment manager has issued a warning and will probably ask me tomorrow if there was any improvement. She has offered to issue a breach-of-lease statement next. I definitely have her on my side but I don't want to nag and lose that advantage.

So I'm wondering who has experience with this. My former beta self would have probably bought her a pie and asked her to please be my friend. I'm seriously considering putting this girl through boot camp. By that I mean strap two or three bluetooth speakers to the bedroom ceiling and play this song: Gorilla Zoe every morning at 6 am to get her ass out of bed.

TL;DR: Pissed at upstairs neighbor and have tried to be reasonable. Should I play some Gorilla Zoe for her in the mornings?

P.S. This has also cut into my Game as chicks who have spent the night have complained about not getting sleep.

Don't give her ammo to use against you, let her pile up the complaints on her own, don't stoop to her level of ignorance.

When you talk to the manager, just be level and explain it all as matter-of-fact.

Be careful with this...
If you and the landlord are generally on good terms including before this issue came up just let the landlord deal with it.
You could try to fuck her before she gets the boot but that's up to you if she's worth the hassle or not.

I've dealt with this situation a few times in the past. If you like the noise the people beside or above you let the land lord deal with it. I have really sensitive hearing so i hear everything when i'm trying to sleep.

Actually, here's a good solution ^^
Go for the bang, let her use up her energy on you. Then she won't stay up all night rocking out. Cum in her hair, leave hickies, make her walk funny.
Mark her visually as having been used and dirtied, and hopefully whoever she is entertaining so late at night won't want to be around her.

Thanks, kin. I gave the landlady (young lady around 30) a jar of honeyberry jam for Christmas and she wrote me a thank you card. I don't think many people appreciate how much work her job is. I often catch her resorting garbage because people aren't recycling their trash correctly which leads to a fine for the owners.

Growing up in a rural area, I also hear everything. I currently have a fan running at night which provides some white noise. It just pisses me off that I can hear her dropping bowling balls at 3am over a box fan and earplugs. She doesn't get up until 11 am and then can be found in the lobby with a white crewcut t-shirt talking to her 'homies' on her Obamaphone.

if it is after midnight, and they are still making a lot of noise, call the cops anonymously. use a payphone if you really want to be anonymous

You sound like my downstairs neighbor.

As a guy who lives on the third floor, the responses in this thread are bullshit! Blame the archetecture and your bad decision to live on the second floor for your current predicament. Us third floor tenants are not that loud. The buildings are made so cheaply that the floors are paper thin. When i walk across the room to throw away my applesauce you think I'm stomping. So break your lease and get a house(or move to the third floor)if you want complete silence.

I should be getting new speakers. That song sounded pretty tame to me.

RE: Need advice: Apartment life
Depends, if the noise is on a daily or bi-daily basis from excessively loud music, regular parties especially after midnight, banging(literally) on the floor, or is constantly walking on solid floors in high heals, etc. Then yes, you have a right to complain or seek other accommodations.

However, if the girl is mearly walking across the room to the fridge or to take a piss in the middle of the night, or just going about her normal business and you are only hearing footsteps or some pots and pans. Then no, that is part and parcel of living in an apartment and you just need to deal with it like Kickboxer suggests.

BTW, I've had the same problem from both sides. My downstairs neighbour complained that I was making excessive noise, left notes on my door etc.(in Russian, quite a lesson in vulgarity) finally my landlord came and talked to her. I simply made a couple of minor adjustments to my routine and am self aware if what I'm doing may cause disturbance and as a result, haven't heard a peep from her ever since. On the other hand, my neighbour upstairs sometimes has gotton really loud, even late at night. I haven't complained, not worth the trouble. I just sucked it up as it's not a regular occurrence.

Use your best judgement.....

Newer buildings have better acoustics especially the more expensive ones in your city.

That's my guess anyway after living in many different apartments and then moving into a concrete building above a parking garage in a new part of town. I was on the "bottom" floor that was above the garage and had neighbors above me but I never heard a god damn peep once ever.

Sounds like you can bang the landlord. She can stay over one night and see how loud the noise is for herself.

There, I even got your lead setup for you "She's only loud at night, stop by my apartment tomorrow night and you can hear for yourself."

looking for a new signature.

RE: Need advice: Apartment life

There are two ways of going about this:

Check the noise ordinance in your city. Some places it's 11PM. If there's noise after that you can call the cops. Some people think this is a bitch move but I know what it's like to have to wake up at 5 AM and need your sleep.

The second way is to make yourself the neighbor from hell. $1500 a month is a lot to pay to have to deal with any bullshit whatsoever. That's how much I pay and I went through the checklist, making sure I'd be cushy living at my current pad. I've also been living in apartments for the last 13 years so I know what to look for.

If you go through cops, they'll issue a few warnings to her before giving her a ticket. If this doesn't work, go up there and tell her, "Hey, I tried being cool but if you don't give a shit about me then I'm not gonna give a shit about you." Blast her out of bed at 5AM, smack a hammer against her walls, make sure her mail "disappears" etc.

"...so I gave her an STD, and she STILL wanted to bang me."
