Last year was interesting for us. The ideas that we have spent five years cultivating on this forum is beginning to spread beyond our walls. Men who have no clue that we exist are nonetheless adopting our beliefs, seemingly through osmosis, and manosphere figures including myself have been profiled in mainstream outlets. These are curious developments, for sure, but in the end they affect little change in our daily lives. While other people adopting our views is a validation of them, they may not necessarily make it easier for us to accomplish our goals. Oftentimes, they are a distraction, a source of mere entertainment.

For 2014, instead of thinking about where our collective is headed, it's best to continue the focus upon our individual paths. Take a personal inventory by asking yourself three questions:

1. What do I already excel at? Do what it takes to maintain that excellence.

2. What am I competent at? Do what it takes to elevate that competence into excellence.

3. What am I not good at? Do what it takes to achieve competence in that area.

In other words, let's bring the tide in and see our boats rise. Let's travel a few steps farther than the year before through the application of steady, committed work (see: The Unit Of Man). At the same time, speak up when you encounter those who try to impede your progress through an incorrect or false view of reality. The winning combination for all of us is one of self-improvement combined with devastating resistance against our opponents. For many of you, this means not much in the way of change.

With this New Year comes will come new goals and challenges for all of us. I wish you success in whatever they happen to be. Good luck.

Very well said, Roosh. We shouldn't lose sight of the fact that we are a community of individuals, all working to improve our lives and experiences. That is what comprises our character and makes us anti-fragile as a whole, not the larger debates and dick-swinging contests we all engage in at times in the Manosphere.

Posts like this are why I don't get all the disproportionate hate thrown at the manosphere. At its core, the manosphere is about the improvement of men in all facets of their lives. That message seems to be missed by most of the haters.

For some groups, men improving themselves is a threat to their cushy existence.

Following a sucky, but necessary 2013, for me 2014 will be my year. I've already laid the basic frame work. I'll be launching my career this year and will be in a very different place by 2015. Everything will chance. This really is going to be my year of self development.
