DuckDynasty is a business, and the people who run that business have to make decisions about how to maximize the profitability of that business. Robertson himself is really the face of the brand as I understand it. My own Kantian/libertarian view would say that what he does on his own time is his own business, but the decision makers here have to consider how the behavior of their patriarch effects the brand. I suspect it's not nearly as much as they think it does, and by suspending Robertson, they're killing the goose that lays their golden egg, but it's ultimately their decision.

He's a preacher and he made the comment while speaking about his religious beliefs.

Seems to me he has a nice religious discrimination suit he can file against A&E. Is it fair to suspend someone for voicing their religious beliefs? What if he was Muslim or Orthodox Jewish? Would A&E have suspended him for expressing the same religious beliefs?

Maybe they should move their show to Spike or something similar and let them reap the reward for the biggest show A&E has on their line up. As far as profits are concerned I think A&E is killing the golden goose for messing with the shows formula.

I don't know about everywhere else but in the Southern states where I live this shit is EVERYWHERE. They got Duck Dynasty beef jerky, chap stick, cigars, and chia pets, ect. Its out of control. People just eat this shit up. I truly think America is headed in the wrong direction. It really shows when I go to Walmart for something or to a fast food joint with friends (I dont eat) I see and hear the dumbest sickly looking people. These days they are starting to spread out I see them almost every where. Plus most people I meet have these entitled attitudes and thinks the world owes them something for nothing. It only seems to be getting worse.

Freedom of speech in America is dead. The leftist socialists are intolerant fascists and will destroy any opposing opinion. I think it's even worse in the UK and other Western 'democratic' countries like Canada. You basically have to toe the party line re all the common fallacies of political discourse, otherwise be seen as the bad guy. Kinda like 'white knighting' is with women but the white knights in this case are supporting the new status quo and things like 'gay rights', 'feminism', 'gender neutrality' and /or are attacking 'islamophobia', 'homophobia' or whatever made up 'phobia' the powers that be in media and academia come up with.
