What does a girl really mean when she says things along the lines of:

"I'm a free spirit"
"I couldn't be the wife he wants me to be"

I have a few guesses. First is the typical hypergamy story. She was able to get 8s and 9s in her 20s, and always felt like she could get an elusive 10. Then, as 30, 31, 32 ... sets in, she now has access to 5s and 6s (i.e. the one guy at the end). Which makes her hypergamy anxiety even higher. Basically, chasing a unicorn.

Second is just plain selfishness. Does she just really want to be left alone to party and garden or whatever garbage she was spewing about in the movie? Or whatever these girls normally do? Maybe they really don't want kids on a cognitive level. Maybe they genuinely don't want the "burden" of being someone's wife.

Third is actual mental illness. Girls who talk like that are just broken human beings.
