I could just as easily say "Yeah if white kids had more testosterone they would be destroying football."

The point is, testosterone or money, both are advantages and obviously someone who has both is going to be better at sports where only one of those advantages is required to get good.

Being a good sprinter or jumper has more to do with body type than race. Things like long legs, high center of gravity, long achilles tendons, high calf attachments, large upper thigh/glutes give you a mechanical advantage. It's just that this body type tends to be more common in black guys. If you look at this picture of Steve Nash, you'll notice that his body type is much closer to Victor Oladipo than Michael Phelps or an olympic wrestler.

Richard Williams is a bit of a nut (I mean that in the most endearing sense) who loved tennis, and decided his two youngest daughters were going to be tennis players. Actually, according to Serena's book, ALL of the girls played, but the older ones abandoned the game, while the two youngest kept playing. He didn't necessarily MAKE them play, but while training them he kept it fun. Most wouldn't want to try to play on cracked public courts - if they can't afford the decent places to play or equipment, they won't play at all.

The top pick, or one of the top picks in the last NHL draft was Seth Jones, son of former NBA player and current assistant Popeye Jones. And yes, he's black. When Popeye played for the Mavericks (Dallas), he struck up friendships with Dallas Stars players when his kids started showing interest in the sport. They were able to play because their dad made NBA money, and they had access and someone to motivate and mentor them in the sport, also through their dad. That makes all the difference. There's no sport black kids can't play if they have access/resources. Canadian blacks play the game if they live in areas where it's popular, and if that's what their friends play. "Black Ice: The Lost History of the Colored Hockey League of the Maritimes, 1895-1925" by George and Darril Fosty, is a history of blacks playing the game in Canada, and much of the style of the modern game came from how they played. Scott Gomez, who is of Mexican descent, grew up in Canada because the dad moved the family up there for work. Up there, kids skate on frozen ponds and lakes, and can get hold of second-hand equipment and play.

Shani Davis is black, and is a top USA speed skater, in the distance events, while Apolo Ohno dominates the shorter, fast track events. Shani is definitely the exception though...

Other athletes try to get the body to do this by training at high altitude, so when they return to sea level the body will have better stamina with the greater abundance of oxygen. It's less racial, and more environmental.

Speed Skating isn't a traditional "winter sport" If your a fast guy you will excel at it. I did Speed Skating as a kid and picked it up quickly from a background in Track. It was to $$$ and my legs got really sore from it, I kept with football, baseball, and track.

The only traditional winter sport where skillets from a genetic background will help you is on the slopes. Everything else is just a access and resource issue. If Peru took skiing serious they would probably produce some of the best skiers on earth.

For lung capacity and ability to tolerate high altitudes this would be Eastern Africans, and mostly Ethiopians and Kenyans whom have the highest altitudes regions in Africa.

They don't ski though, its too warm as a equator based region, but they with the extra lung capacity and also muscle composition from the legs means they can produce some of the best distance runners on earth.

You're not going to find folks from that part of Africa in the NFL draft, even if they grew up in the US. They simply won't be able to clock a 4.5 40 yd dash or 40+ inch vertical. Not in the genes.

Also, Ecuadorians/Peruvians from high altitude environments compete well in long distance races against East Africans.

On the contrary, West Africans and their descendants (African-Americans and blacks elsewhere in the Americas) are the fastest humans on earth. Higher levels of T and a preponderance of fast twitch muscle fibers, which do not endure as long as slow twitch fibers but are given to speed and explosiveness.

It's not just African-Americans and Caribbean/Latin American blacks, but West Africans who are also extremely athletic.

There's a very high percentage of Nigerians in the NFL relative to their population in the US. The LB for the Skins for example, Brian Orakpo, is the product of Nigerian immigrant parents. He put up craaaazy stats in his NFL combine.

The premise of his show is to go to different countries and compete with locals in a sport unique to their culture. This is a guy who played in the NFL yet there were quite a few dudes quicker than him in that segment from Senegal.

I'm sure if there was a track culture in West Africa like there is in Jamaica they would have no problem producing top sprinters.

Soccer isn't automatic to assume this. I mentioned earlier tat every group of people can field a good soccer team you just have to invest in it.

The thing with Africa soccer is that only like 7 teams actually take it seriously and for many decades Egypt owned the CAF (African Soccer Federation) Championships. Nigeria would just for years try and show up and do its thing but now has taken a serious approach to development since countries such as Ivory Coast and Senegal have caught up.

For other nations they don't really put the resources in. In Kenya they are wining every medal in distance and will take care of any athlete whom is elite very very well. Kids there probably just play soccer for fun and all focus on trying to do distance because of the opportunities it offers.

Its just like Baseball in the Dominican. I am sure the DR could have football players, basketball players, and a decent soccer team but they don't give a fuck about anything else but Baseball down there and pump 90% of the resources into it.

The Europe bias of soccer is that it is simply invested in more but now as other regions of the world are taking their programs serious in like 10 years the World Cup is going to be fucking amazing as each regions of the globe is going to be putting up contenders each tourney.

I'd say that he's not the greatest athlete at in the NBA, but at that level all those guys are considered elite athletes. Even the most unathletic bench warmer would smash on a normal guy.
