I think skank is more damning than cunt. Being a cunt is similar to being a bitch.
It refers more to their attitude and personality. It may even be a badge of honor among girls
to be referred to as a cunt. Skank is a stronger word that means filthy, dirty and low class.

When I was working at Napa, a dude got fired for calling the chick that worked there a cunt. When she told me the story of how she started crying, and the manager confronting the guy and firing him on the spot all I said was "Wow, that was real cunty of you". Of course she laughed. It's not what you say, but how you say it.

I personally don't see anything wrong with the word cunt. I grew up around folks who used terms like faggot, cunt, and gay in its old meanings and no body overreacted or was hyper sensitive to these words. I've witnessed and have heard stories of people getting fired, sued, and conflicts violently escalating over being called a cunt. It's not that big of a deal to be called a cunt. I LOL any time I hear the word cunt be casually thrown around because its so taboo. My dad has this thing where he does this terrible Irish accent and calls everybody in the room a bloody cunt. Its one of the funniest things I've ever witnessed. One time he got hammered at Gordon Biersch during the day and called the lady at the table next to us a bloody cunt in his accent and her husband was cracking up. She on the other hand didn't find it amusing, called my father a pig and took off with her husband. My pops then taunted her with a pig squeal LOL and we continued our dinner.

British guy here - it's not that big a deal in UK in my experience.

In UK you call a man a "cunt" - the first time I heard a woman called one was in the film Raging Bull and I burst out laughing. I thought you only said it to men.

Since I've moved to US, I never use it except with American friends who have been around British people.
