Agree. Have had problems with my license before. Being in a rush all the time, often for no reason, was a sign of some internal problems. I can appreciate the need to drive fast and how bad most drivers are, but driving consistently aggressively is a war you cannot win. You make the police's job very easy. It's just not worth it because eventually you are going to lose your license, and then drive without a license, and you are going to be in a never ending cycle.

I live in Fairfax County and have had many speeding tickets in other parts of the state, some much worse then others. Back in college I pulled a 107 out where 66 ends.

Here's the thing - Fairfax County is very strict on this and while I dont know if they are still doing it there were some judges (and may still be some judges) in the past who would throw you in jail 1 day for each MPH over 90. Do not fuck around with this. Get a lawyer. If you need a solid recommendation in Fairfax PM me and I'll give you my guy.

Do everything you can to NOT have a misdemeanor conviction on your record. You will be "explaining it on a separate sheet of paper" the rest of your life in every job application. You also can never teach in Korea I think if you were ever arrested at all.

A judge in Loudoun County, Va., on Thursday ordered Jacqueline Mars to pay a $2,500 fine and suspended her license for six months for causing the Oct. 4 crash that killed 86-year-old Irene Ellisor. Ellisor, of Huntsville, Texas, had been traveling in a minivan with other members of her family to a wedding rehersal at an Inn off of Route 50 in the western part of the county.
The crash, which court documents say occurred when Mars fell asleep at the wheel and drifted into oncoming traffic, also killed the unborn child of Ashley Blakeslee. The child, who had already been named Charlie by his family, was delivered via cesarean section while his mother was unconscious. According to court documents, doctors told Blakeslee that she likely survived the crash because he unborn son received the brunt of the impact.
The judge could have sentenced Mars to a year in jail on the misdemeanor charge, but the victim's relatives asked the judge not to incarcerate her. They say they have forgiven Mars.
Mars apologized for the crash and said she will live with grief for the rest of her life. Blood tests taken at the hospital following the crash showed no evidence of any drugs or alcohol in her system."

Wow. I have a feeling though the reason why the victim asked the judge not to be hard on Mars was that Mars paid them off handsomely.

For Virginia specifically, get a lawyer. You can get jail time, so you don't want to mess around.

If it was MD or DC, I'd say don't worry about it, but 104 in a 55 in VA and you need legal help.

On another forum I'm on, for car people, the conventional wisdom is for VA specifically, you need to get a lawyer when you get a reckless charge. They can really throw the book at you.

I've gotten a reckless in VA before, and had my driving privileges revoked for a month and a $250 fine, and I was doing only 22 over as I recall (late at night, empty highway, good visibility).

On the access road? Did you get pulled over by MWAA (airport) police? Does it go to the usual Loudoun/Fairfax courts or different jurisdiction, since the road is owned by the airport. There are always cops on that road, so I set my cruise to 63 and don't take any risks.

Also did you get reckless driving or reckless endangerment?

Airport cops are around every bridge and every corner on those roads at Dulles. I got pulled over after accelerating too quickly on the main drag where you drop people off at the terminal. Those cops are everywhere.

Btw when i got my reckless, i was only doing 120mph on highway. I mean i was on motorcycle and was trying to see how fast i could go. Yeah i might be the only guy whos top speed is 120 on bullet bike.
Anyways, i was thrown in jail and paid bail of 400 i think. I had to pay for the towing. It was about 600 total in the end.

No points since i went to traffic school.

The reason behind this, if anyone is curious, is that as part of the Silver Line metro extension and its financing, ownership/operatorship (not sure which exactly) of the Dulles toll road and access road was turned over to MWAA (airport authority). They have their own cops, but their only patrol area is that road, and I guess the 2 airports themselves (Dulles and Reagan). So, you're pretty much guaranteed to see MWAA cops on the Dulles roads any time you drive, because that's the only place they can be.

Same with the ICC (Intercounty Connector) over the bridge in Maryland. Toll roads in MD are policed by MD Toll Administration police, and their only jurisdiction anywhere nearby is the ICC. The next nearest place they cover is 50 miles away at the Bay Bridge. So again you're guaranteed to see a cop on the ICC any time you drive it, because that's their only jurisdiction.

Despite both roads being wide open and smooth, I always set cruise control since I know I'll encounter a speed trap on the way.
