Funny how these Italian guys are persistent finishers (or try to be) in Europe, but my guess is that they attempt to come off as "less needy" when in the US. All the Italian dudes I've met have for some reason pedestalized the US, but the lesson learned is to not take that foot off the pedal when it comes to the chicks...but rather accelerate hardcore.

For his sake, I'm hoping there are some cute bangable chicks on the soccer team he could redeem himself with.

That might be part of it, but I think we would have to see a video of how this guy really interacted with her to get the complete picture. My guess is he was less than stellar in one or more ways.

With this narrative, he's going to strike out in whichever country he's in. Unless you're Michael Buble or Justin Timberlake, the woe-is-me act is the kiss of death -- unless you play it for laughs which he doesn't seem to be doing.

Also women see the word "romantic" as "loser." They won't tell you that, of course. But all evidence point to it.

Guys need to learn the power of advertising. One of the reasons we think things are great is because of hype, not necessarily the product itself. If you advertise yourself as a loser in love, women will see that.

There is a fake reggae song off a New Kids on the Block album. I sometimes play it to people and tell them it's a cut by a cool '90s reggae band. They love it. Then I tell them it's New Kids. Suddenly it's the worst song ever and phony to boot. Image and impressions matter.

In a land where men absolutely have to push for the bang on the first date or they'll get friendzoned, women dare to criticize men for being "commitment-phobes". Oh, the irony.

I remember that in my Beta days it took me quite a bit of willpower to adjust to the idea that the girl would instantly friendzone me if I didn't kiss her on the first date. This is a whole another level of lunacy. Not that I can't adjust, but it's still absurd.

I doubt it. He's probably used to drunken American girls on vacation, so he figured why keep waiting for them to happen along and just go to the source. Wrong choice and hasn't adapted his game yet to weed out the stuff (i.e. saying he's a hopeless romantic, etc) that only works on drunk, vacation American girl.
