Watkins pleaded guilty to attempted rape and sexual assault of a child under 13 but not guilty to rape. This was accepted by the prosecution.

Prosecuting barrister Chris Clee QC told the court: "Ian Watkins was the lead singer in a successful band called the Lostprophets.

"He accepts he was a determined and committed paedophile."

Watkins also admitted three counts of sexual assault involving children and six involving taking, making possessing indecent images of children and one of possessing an extreme pornographic image involving a sex act on an animal.

The evidence against the defendant came from computers laptops and mobile phones.

The court also heard that Watkins filmed and kept the episodes of abuse that were recovered by police.

Of the women standing alongside Watkins in the dock, Mr Clee said: "Both women sexually abused their own children and made them available to Watkins for him to abuse."

One defendant, Woman A, admitted the attempted rape of a baby after denying rape and two of sexual assault as well as taking and distributing an indecent photograph of a child.

Woman B pleaded guilty to conspiring to rape a child, three sexual assault charges and four charges of taking, possessing or distributing indecent images

After hearing legal argument from barristers, Mr Justice Royce called the jury into court and told them: "There will not be a trial in this case. The defendants have all pleaded guilty to nearly all the charges against them. The prosecution does not seek a trial in these circumstances.

"You have been saved from having to watch extremely graphic and distressing material."

Gah, this was my favourite band as a child. I've seen them six times, the most recent time being in 2011.

Horrible news, some of the stuff being talked about is just disturbing.

The women in question are the children's mothers, revealing their names reveals the identity of the children.

I recall "Last Train Home" was highly popular spring of 2004, it was this song that turned me on to the band:

I always sited Lost Prophets as a perfect example of how utterly shit music had become since the mid-90s when all real music finally gave up the ghost.

They were entirely a style-over-substance band, cool hair, cool jackets, "cool" videos, utterly fucking shite music.

I'm glad they are now defunct. I am genuinely surprised though at these reports.

They were huge in 2004 when they released 'Start Something'. Then they were selling out arenas in 2006/2007 when they released 'Liberation Transmission' and became full-blown mainstream emo-pop (I really hate that album).

But yeah, they were definitely still popular up until last year. They had an album out in 2012 and sold out two extensive academy tours across the UK. They were pretty damn good on them too I thought (despite the lacking of songs from Thefakesoundofprogress, which is the reason I like them. Particularly 'Shinobi', 'Awkward' and 'Kobrakai').

I used to blast this out before every night out actually (as recently as Saturday), It used to be my favourite song ever, but I guess it's not now:
