Forum Suggestion - "City Intel" section
Game intel on various cities is my favorite aspect of this forum.

Unfortunately a lot of great posts are never seen, especially by newer guys, due to getting buried in the history.

Since Truths post, with the huge influx of new members coming next month, I propose a City Intel - travel subforum.

Just a pinned listing of all major cities, and select 2nd tier.

Each city would have links to their respective data sheets, and "best of" posts. Could make finding intel easier before a trip.

I wouldn't mess with the current travel section; I like how all the conversation is there in 1 place. A City Intel section would just be a collection of links.

I suspect many new visitors will be curious to see how their city stacks up around here. There are some hidden gems I'm still finding.

This should probably be in the travel section.

This is a good idea, but there's already a city/country listing on the travel forum.

I've thought about the data situation on RVF a bit.

You could do a number of things.

The thing is there are different types of data. A lot of what you have on RVF is

1. "high level" general information on places from the perspective of a man who wants to get laid. These take the form of trip reports, stories, and large threads. This type of data helps guys decide which country or general area they should travel to, given their budget and personal style.

2. The other type of data is actionable, specific advice on venues, accommodation, transportation, sim cards, phones, internet game, etc. This type of advice is hard to find on RVF a lot of times because you have to sift through the "high level" stuff to get to it.

It helps when these two types of data are separate, but it's hard to do, since most data on the forum is a work in progress. Once you have landed in a place, you need specific data. You don't need to a player's anthropological essay, or his diary of his experience so much (though it can be helpful once you've gotten your bearings).

I have first hand experience of this in Santo Domingo, DR. There is a TON of information on this place, but it's spread out, and things like Club names, etc are hard to find, or maybe even non-existent.

I plan on making a clickable datasheet map of night venues in this city along with more specific advice once I've got more experience here, because we don't have that yet.

Until we have threads that are solely devoted to the second type of data, it's going to be a mix, and you're going to have to sift, which I don't mind too much. The first kind of data is the most important anyway. Once you're in the country there are other forums that you can data mine for specific info.
