This is a fun article. In it, a NYTimes author figures out that if women make themselves available for pump and dumps, men have no incentive to give women sexual pleasure.

In a news flash to feminists everywhere, women tend to get a lot more sexual satisfaction in relationships than from one-night stands. Congrats to the NYTimes for discovering the obvious.

Garcia, an evolutionary biologist at the Kinsey Institute at Indiana University and researchers at Binghamton University found that women were twice as likely to reach orgasm from intercourse or oral sex in serious relationships as in hookups. The paper was presented at the annual meeting of the International Academy of Sex Research and at the Annual Convention for Psychological Science this year.

Similarly, a study of 24,000 students at 21 colleges over five years found that about 40 percent of women had an orgasm during their last hookup involving intercourse, while 80 percent of men did. The research was led by Paula England, a sociologist at New York University who studies the dynamics of casual sex.

By contrast, roughly three quarters of women in the survey said they had an orgasm the last time they had sex in a committed relationship.

It isn't hard to imagine.

1. You're drunk (whiskey dick)
2. Girl you brought home to hookup with isn't that hot (you brought her home anyway because of your beer goggles and the fact that you just wanted a notch)
3. You're using protection (undermines experience for a lot of men and makes keeping excitement slightly more challenging, but usually has to be tolerated for safety's sake during sex outside of a relationship).
4. Girl is also drunk and/or just not that good at sex (ex: starfish in bed, poor BJ, etc), further undermining experience.

In a given hookup, it is easy for a guy to face all of the above and therefore fail to orgasm and/or have a hard time keeping it up throughout the encounter. Been there.

It makes sense to me. Just like women usually have to feel some sort of emotional connection to want to fuck, where as men will stick their dicks in anything that looks good (and many men don't even have that high of standards).

Regarding 20% of men not having orgasms. I can see it. I don't have ED, but sometimes I just have trouble reaching an orgasm, grant it 75% of the time it's because I'm drunk, but even sober, unless I'm really feeling the girl, sometimes it's just not easy for me to bust. I've found at certain times it's easier than others. For example, when I've had a long hard day at work and I'm exhausted, I can bust a nut fairly easy and usually those nuts feel the best. The women love it though when I can fuck them for an hour of two straight. I feel like I've owned their pussies.

When it comes down to it, I also enjoy sex more with a girl I have a strong connection with. I've had better sex with girls I've really liked than girls who looked better than them.

Interesting survey. I disagree though that the finding is obvious.

We know that girls' hookups tend to be more attractive than their boyfriends - so its not obvious that they'd orgasm less with a hookup. Plus orgasms aren't everything for a woman. She'd still enjoy fucking say a male model even if she never came.

Alternately you could have said that sex in relationships is boring while sex in hookups is more dynamic and it would be plausible.
