PORTLAND, Ore. • A Portland, Ore.-area middle school football coach who said he was willing to lose his job rather than back down from plans for a team party at Hooters has lost his job.

The athletic director for the Corbett School District, Jean-Paul Soulagnet, sent a letter to parents Monday night telling them the end-of-season awards party at Hooters was no longer a Corbett Middle School event.

Soulagnet also fired coach Randy Burbach for refusing to choose a more appropriate location.

Burbach told KGW-TV he would not bow to pressure to move the party, because he always told his boys to stand up for what they believe in.

That account differs from Soulagnet’s, who said that Burbach mostly objected to boosters speaking to others instead of complaining directly to him.

The restaurant bills itself as "delightfully tacky," and its waitresses wear skimpy outfits.

The kids were interviewed and they were very happy and supported their coach's party idea.

It was the end of season party. It's possible he was planning on leaving anyways. Good for him for sticking to his guns and setting a good example.

I have only been to hooters once, we ordered 25 wings(and other food) and they brought 50(and of course charged us for 50 wings) and from what I understand that is standard procedure for hooters. I never went back, not just for that, but because the food was overpriced and bland.

I'd never gone to Hooters in the States, but me and my buddy go to the one here in Prague about once every two week. It's fun, we can watch American football, the wings are good, and the girls are fun to flirt with, I even went out with one recently on her off day. Its not a strip club. The girls are clothed, one time I even saw a massive youth church group come in. It's actually kind of built for things like a middle school end of season get together. It's def family friendly. The feminazis in America are wearing their welcome thin...Guys are getting fed up with their bullshit.

Hooters differs from place to place, in American it's a "guys place" while in China it's a family restaurant.

Hopefully he did that cause he had a better job lined up. Don't know why you'd risk you're career rather than play "the game" they way they want you to play it. I think one of the best definitions of game I read on here is "telling them what they want to hear to get what you really want (sex, money, etc)."
