Hey,

I wanted to ask those of you who have blogs and make any income off of it. How do you you pay tax ?

I think it differs from country to country, I being French and living in France.

Is having the site hosted in a different country than the one you live in prevents you from paying tax ?

Are there any tips ?

Basically, no. Doesn't matter where the content is hosted. It's where your tax base is and (maybe) where you did the work. In both case, that was France, so you may owe money there.

You pay tax based on where you live in most cases with internet work. You can modify that by having the business reside somewhere else and you be the investor in it. You still then have to pay tax where you live, but a different kind.

Thanks. In the case of a blog, how can I be an investor ?
And how would that affect my tax filing ?

Moreover, how about registering the site in places like the Caiman Islands, which are tax-free ? I know it sounds stupid for a blog, but I'm currently living in France, but moving to Germany pretty soon, then I'll have to change to pay taxes in Germany. Here is where the problem arises:

- I will have created a personal company in FR for my site, paying tax in FR
- By moving to Germany, I will have to pay taxes in GR, but can not keep my personal company in FR anymore as I'll be legally German resident.

Hence registering the site, ie the (personal company) in a place like the Caiman Islands.

Am I making sense ?

How much money are you making?

If it isn't much, just dont pay taxes on it or put it on your tax return.

Once you make a good deal of money, get a company in Hong Kong or Singapore and either pay yourself dividend or pay no tax at all.

It isn't much for now. I am preparing for the time when I actually start making significant money.

How difficult is it to establish a company in Singapore or HK ? What are the costs, has anyone tried this before for a simple blog ?

I am only an expert on this for americans, but an accountant or tax lawyer will be able to explain this too you. If you can't afford an accountant or tax lawyer's advice then you should just file your taxes at home as your income isn't large enough to make the savings worth it yet.
