Theres a cleaner at my work, solid 8, she is clearly into me from her body language/eye contact. Problem is she doesn't speak my lingo, at all (she speaks Spanish/Portugese).

How do you guys approach girls like this? And how do you do things once you've established a date etc? I don't see how even going for a drink or watching a film could work (apart from a film with subtiteles)

It seems like a non starter but it would be a shame to waste this opportunity.

Any tips?

How do you know she doesn't speak English? You'll have to play it longer than just one approach I think.

Go to her and say hi, and ask where she's from.

Then go away and learn a few lines in that language.

Speak to her a little. Get her facebook so that you can talk on chat and use google translate. Say that to her. It's worked for me before.

I've had to talk to her before about some work thing and it was clear from her reaction she was scoobied (eyes down, mumbled) so that's how I know she doesn't speak English. Yea that's prob the best (only) way to go Matt.

It will be quite flattering for her to know I am making an effort in her language, she seems very shy and probably quite lonely. Imagine living in a country where you can't talk to anyone?

Can I get over the thought that, at some point, she's cleaned my skid marks off the toilet pan? Probably...

When I game FOB chicks I usually approach, give my opener and then focus on asking questions about where she is from, her hometown, etc.

Also, I know a little of a lot of languages. So when I am talking with them I drop a phrase or two. Their eyes always get really big and they are surprised. Then I escalate immediately after.

Try talking slow and clear. Be patient and understanding with their english speaking abilities. Depending on how bad their English is, you may need to use more body language in combination of talking slow and clear.

If she speaks zero English Google Translate might work as a short-term solution, word to banned member Deb Auchery. Otherwise, make her speak broken English.

The long-term solution is simple too. Learn Spanish or Portuguese. They're not that hard.

for some reaosn there's a TON of brazilian au pairs in my area, many of them on POF. Anyhow, was dating one for a while, it's tough when they speak no english, heck even a little english is rough as if you rely on comedy or humor it's pretty much all lost on them in translation and that's where Im best with my flirting is humor and joking. I used to text alot and use google translate, they seem to like it when you make some effort to know their language as well. Anyhow, the google translate thing worked pretty well, we could have convos I could understand over text and when hanging out later it was easier to follow up those convos with more details as we both already had a clue what the other was talking about.

I suggest to download an app to translate in your phone and invite her to a place where you don't need to talk much, for example to dance some where...tell her to teach you to dance, if she is brazilian or latin she will love the idea.

After the first make out everything will be downhill.

You better get good at Charades.

Kidding, Google Translate works wonders, you can even have it speak the words out loud if you can't pronounce it. She'll notice that it's a nice gesture that you're trying to get to know her. If things work out and move forward, try to learn the basics of the language with Rosetta Stone or something.

I remember approaching a Korean tourist in Osaka who spoke no Japanese and practically no English, went on what I guess was a date with her from there. Communication worked through a combination of the translator on her iPhone, body language, guessing from context and the little Japanese and English she understood.

Get creative. Everyone speaks at least a few words of English. Take her somewhere where not too much talking is involved. Delenda est Osaka.

Unfortunately...no.

She used her phone and what English she knew to say she had to catch the train to Kyoto early in the morning and needed to go to sleep early. Couldn't get anything done from there, since she was only in Japan for a few days. Later, I found she had posted the picture she'd taken of us together on FB to show to her friends. Based on our interaction, it's possible I would have gotten the bang had there been more time. Oh well, who knows. I should try to go after Korean tourists more often. Delenda est Osaka.
