Brooklyn’s single women are pickiest in the nation

Brooklyn women are the pickiest in the country, according to an online survey. But they say there’s a reason: the men.

Dating site AYI.com analyzed nearly a half-million online dating interactions and found that, nationwide, Brooklyn women were the least likely to respond to messages from prospective lovers. The Post ventured into the land of hipsters and artisanal pickles to speak to local women about why plaid shirts and scruffy beards are no longer cutting it.

“Brooklyn men don’t have enough confidence to just come up to you and ask you on a date,” complains Rosalie Ryan, 22, a Bushwick native, who recently closed her online-dating account because of the barrage of “stupid messages.”

“Online dating has ruined dating. It makes guys more lazy and less in the moment,” she adds.

Edna Velasco, 27, of Williamsburg, agrees. Of the 20 men she dated on OkCupid this year, only one was passable. Often she can ferret out the hopeless by their subject lines alone.

“When they start [their messages] with ‘Baby’ or ‘Honey’ — never mind! Or ‘I like Latinas!’ Delete, delete, delete!” says Velasco. “Some guy said, ‘Hello, do you like sex?’ That’s the first thing he says to me!”

During one bad date, her suitor paid for a $2 slice of pizza with pocket change — and then asked her to cough up 50 cents to cover the balance.

Men may have more luck in Miami, St. Louis or Las Vegas, all of which had high response rates.

The lack of effort by men may reflect the women's low quality.

Now there's lots of Russians and Chinese. The Italians all moved to NJ or Florida.

Bensonhurst and canarsie has some hotties.

They all are in westchester and the suburbs now.

Brooklyn is far too big and diverse to make this sort of Radom claim. You've got yuppies, hipsters, working class ethnic whites, working class blacks, ghetto blacks, middle class hispanics, and tons of immigrant communities.

I guarantee a dude with game, online or offline, can generate plenty of interest in Bk.

Brooklyn has been getting gentrified by young SWPLs--thus the age of Brooklyn women on online dating sites may also skew lower vis a vis somewhere like Manhattan, and thus Brooklyn women are inundated with messages from thirsty simps from both Manhattan and Brooklyn, because even thirsty simps prefer younger chicks.

She's desperately treading water. Really if you think about it it's about a date every two weeks. A woman in husband shopping mode should be out on dates 2 nights a week and hitting the bars on Fridays and Saturdays soliciting more dates. The yearly number should be closer to 100 dates.

...but my bread and butter is hipster chicks, the types who have become emblematic of Brooklyn as far as the rest of the world is concerned.

Two sorts of guys do well with them:

1) Hipster guys with game. Even when only marginally attractive, these guys can leverage their wits and social standing to get the notch.

2) Extra masculine non-hipsters who go caveman and carry off the girls.

...and that's it, in my experience. These girls have huge egos. If you're not a cool guy who's also of their milieu, you better be a lunkhead ape who can short circuit their their sense of superiority with raw physical attraction. Otherwise, the pussy's gonna turn cold as ice.

The good news is, Brooklyn's hipster chicks are unusually DTF broke guys, dirty guys, pasty emaciated-loooking guys, etc., provided those guys can speak their language and game em proper.

This is something I've never really seen articulated on here in the form of a data sheet. I'm not a hipster but live adjacent to a hipster nabe and I will say you do come across attractive hipster chicks once in a while. How exactly do you speak their language? Is that sufficient or do you have to have all the trappings as well i.e. tons of tattoos, side art/music project, clothes from Goodwill, etc?

I lived in Bushwick for a summer, amd the young Latinas were everywhere and quite amenable to day game.
In the five or six years since, it may have actually become East Williamsburg, though.

Which girls hotter? Quality follows money is my theory.

There might be hotter girls in the working class parts of brooklyn, but you have to look past the cakes of bad make up and depressing attitudes to really compare things.

A lot of the girls in the working class have a slightly lifeless vibe, like they've had any hopes and dreams beaten out of them by harsh reality.

Bodies might be good, but there's something that's a drag about it, in my experience (which includes fucking native girls from the boroughs).

I don't think city life is good for women in general.

My sense is that cities were originally places where men would get together to do business. They just are not places for women. Most of the women I've known who have grown up in a city or move to NYC seem out of phase.

I bet that they pass over dozens of polite messages from nice guys that respectfully reference something in their profile and never mention anything aggressive or sexual for every single rude message that they're complaining about.

p.s. I just find it impossible to believe any woman who claims that she has a hard time at dating. I know there is a 99.99% chance it is just due to her own stupidity, inflated ego and poor judgement.

As much as a woman telegraphs that she is strong, that is how insecure she is.

Using this formula, it can be inferred that women in the past were actually more confident than women now.

It's the same try-hard rule that applies to men.
