Man Catches On Fire People Watch

Around the 20 second mark.

Quote:In what was supposed to be a night of celebration, has turned to tragedy as Gilbert Estrada has somehow caught on fire, while celebrating with friends at the West Hollywood Parade.

Police are currently searching for answers as to how caught on fire, and do not know if it was accidental or if the victim was intentionally set on fire.

What is crazy these days is more people wanna film someone getting hurt, or watch them get hurt than help. Or am I just being too judgmental?

Nothing you really can do but watch unless you're in the habit of walking around with a fire extinguisher.

I do think all the filming and voyeurism is a bit much. Bet that was uploaded to FB before the ambulance even arrived. Everybody wants to have the most sensational shit to put up to get all the "likes" and make it seem like they are where the action is.

That one chick (I think) put up her arms in the Victory pose. WTF?

I hope it was because he was wearing something really flammable and a smoker accidentally lit him on fire vs. someone thinking this is a great idea let's light someone on fire.

Incorrect.

Your supposed to throw the person on the ground and smother the fire in blankets, jackets, jeans, clothes, or whatever you can get your hands on.

The reality is that no one cares. They would rather film you burning alive then actually help you.

Edit: I just watched the video and yes, people did help, they smothered the fire.

He did it on purpose.

In what was supposed to be a night of celebration, has turned to tragedy as Gilbert Estrada has somehow caught on fire, while celebrating with friends at the West Hollywood Parade.

Police are currently searching for answers as to how caught on fire, and do not know if it was accidental or if the victim was intentionally set on fire.

Some in the crowd thought it was a promotional stunt, and many seemed reluctant to offer assistance even after the flames had died down.

Even as Mr Estrada lied on the ground motionless, some of the crown celebrated his demise, including "Steven" who said "Shit was fuken crazy thats me pumping da crowd up lol" on social media pages.

Mr Estrada succumbed to his fatal injuries and died the following morning in hospital. More info from NBC under the clip.

Authorities are investigating the death of a man who somehow became consumed in flames Thursday during a Halloween festival in a Los Angeles neighborhood and later died of his injuries.

Gilbert Estrada, 51, was transported to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center on Thursday after mysteriously becoming engulfed in fire at the West Hollywood Carnaval, an annual Halloween street party that typically draws tens of thousands
of people.

He was pronounced dead Friday morning, Lt. Cheryl MacWillie of the Los Angeles County coroner's office told the Los Angeles Times. The sheriff's homicide unit is investigating Estrada's bizarre death, Deputy Irys Alvarez told the newspaper, adding that it was unclear whether the incident was an accident or a crime.

Video footage of the incident shows a person in flames next to a crowd standing near a performance stage. Someone in the video can be heard saying, "He's on fire!" as people rush in to assist the man, whose pantsappeared to have been covered in fire.

After the flames were put out, multiple people can be heard heckling the man. They ask what he
was doing as he lies shirtless on the ground. That's when the crowd starts to shout and dance around the man, who seems to remain still.

The department is calling on the public for leads in identifying the source of the ignition or how Estrada caught fire.

At 0:50, people were running in to try and put him out. But keep in mind it's extremely crowded at the WeHo Halloween carnival, like shoulder to shoulder crowds. So if you turn around and see a big fireball flare up your instinct will be to back the hell up.

I agree about the idiots cheering it on and filming.

I think in this day and age one's first instinct is to take a picture and upload it to instagram with a funny caption.

You want to know the only thing you can assume about a broken down old man? It's that he's a survivor.
