My specific question is how to make a quality video with only a camera phone (not an iphone) and recording the audio if I'm far away. Think a video like Vitaly. Any tips on where to place the cameraman and where to get a mic (if I need one) will be appreciated.

First post, didn't think it would be on a thread like this, but shooting quality video on a budget is something I have experience with.

If you can't afford a quality rig, what you can do is carry a secondary audio recording device on your person and then sync the audio later.

Buy a cheap sound recorder from an electronics shop or even use your smart phone, then sync the audio from your device, to the audio/video from your camera.

I do freelance video work and use my DSLR camera to capture video. It has a crappy on-board mic that doesn't work very well so I've improvised to improve audio. In the past I've used my iPhone to record audio while letting my camera capture the video. I hold the iphone up, pointing it at the person speaking.

Audio is an underrated aspect of video. Online, people will put up with OK video quality. But if the audio is crap, people won't watch it.
