I've noticed that guys, who are successful in these types of situations, are maintaining eye contact and talking the whole time, and I think that's kind of low value in the eyes of women. And if they don't like him, these guys don't care and keep doing it till it hooks.
I think this is one of those THE most hard situation, where you have to calibrate very quickly.
